Re: Player wanted, early 2018

Depending on the game and whether the dates are the same or changed, I'm eager to join a game as a player. I run a weekly D&D game on Thursday so I have that day free guaranteed, but may have to look at work schedules for other days. What game was it in the end? Did I overlook it? The game is L...

Re: Easterfront 2018 Early War Points

I've got some assembly that I need to finish in order to get my infantry company together (including a half dozen pak36s!) but I should have everything ready by the 24th. :)

Re: Easterfront 2018 Early War Points

All sound like reasonable suggestions and I especially like the idea of more varied (and extreme) scenery or special rules to mix things up. My only concern would be that if we get a lot of infantry players than three 1550 point games could go on for a long time! I'd also be up for mixing up the bat...

Re: FOW: 2018 - player / community plans....

Has anyone else noticed that since Cai got sucked into the murky world of X-Wing, we’ve not actually seen many / any US Armies at our recent events? Ok, BF have over-nerfed US Armour to a degree, but I may look to get my US stuff back on the board during ‘18 (sure, it’s nowhere near as good as it w...

Re: Easterfront 2018 Early War Points

I'm honestly happy with any of the points options. 1250 forces some tough decisions and probably keeps the games flowing quickly. I think anything between 1500 and 1575 is honestly much of a muchness, but 1650 just seems like a good way of not finishing three games. Overall, happy to go with majorit...

Re: Tanksgiving 2017

⋅ Consistency: as far as possible, have a clear one-to-one mapping, e.g. "all 38s are Toldis". "Some 38s are Toldis" can work, if there's a clear demarcation (e.g. painted are 'real', unpainted are proxies); "I'll tell you which are which as we go" is messy. ...

Re: Tanksgiving 2017

Jono's point about being surprised by the number of Veteran forces is well taken, but I think that's somewhat a function of the books chosen - there aren't a lot of German non-veteran options. I would have gladly gone for more numerous Trained troops, but Hungarians don't get anything except C/V fo...

Re: FOW: 2018 - player / community plans....

I'm planning on playing early/mid/late pretty much interchangeably. I have sufficient infantry and vehicles to use my Hungarians in any of the three eras. I'm still waiting on the rest of a delivery from Element Games, which I've just chased again now, but it's only really a few odd bits now. I'd li...

Re: Blood Red Skies

I haven't yet found a 2-D air combat game that feels 'right' to me - a lot of WW2 aerial combat was about managing energy between speed and altitude - but I'm provisionally interested, and definitely happy to help test this when it arrives. On a somewhat related note, I picked up some bits and piec...

My workplace cancelled our extra holiday days this year, so sadly not free then. I'll be at work, stuffing my face with mince pies instead of actually working. :(

I would also push for the opportunity to have a big game. It's definitely something that we'd have less of a chance to do compared to a series of smaller ones that could be played on evenings.

Re: Campaign Challenges and Battles

Sunday 19th should be fine for me. I'll be happy to slap down whatever points value we have time for, but suspect it might come down to how many people we end up with? Are we using ships/refits/admirals/leadership as per our campaign rosters?

So a lack of detailed building rules probably aren't a big deal to them, whereas to us it matters that e.g. a tank can no longer assault a team in a building, per rules as written. I always forget this! I couldn't work out why in my game against Seb he wouldn't just assault the building my troops w...

Re: 2018 Tournament Points

I'd actually be quite excited to try 1250 early war. Lots of naff tanks running about.

1780 points (plus rebates!) makes for pretty big games I think, I'd definitely consider doubling up on formations quite often.

More than happy to play 1.5k per person, as long as we have a mission that has sufficient deployment space! It felt a little crowded last time already.
