Re: New 40k player

Hi Alex, Welcome to the forum. The vast majority of 40K players seem to use Facebook now. I'm not 100% certain what the best page is to use but here's one of them: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1701314510117671/ That should help you make contact with people who know more than me (I'm not a 40K pla...

Re: Easterfront 2018 Early War Points

I've voted 1,550 purely because I've already thrown a list together at these points and I'm lazy, so don't want to have to change it. It's not much effort however so I'm very happy to go with any points level, I don't know enough about EW to have a strong opinion.

Re: Tanksgiving 2017

Infantry are often easier to convert between eras (a rifle is pretty much a rifle). Some of my Russians might have to look a little American if I choose the infantry horde option (a small list I've just thrown together contains 54 rifle teams). The tank horde of 10 T-34s is an option but I'm guessi...

Re: Tanksgiving 2017

Thanks guys. Sorry I missed the one vs one games but I had a lot of fun playing the multiplayer, as always. Special mention should be made of the Soviet pilot who snipped Alex's commander in an expertly planned strike during his one and only visit to the battlefield (he wasn't drunk and lucky, hones...

Date: Sun 03 Dec Times: setup from 0900; first round 0930 - 1200; second round 1230 - 1500; third round 1530 - 1800+ (team game). I'm going to have to shoot off to a family thing during the second round (I'd hoped it might not be happening but it's just been confirmed). Hopefully I'll be back in ti...

I might be able to twist CJ's arm as well. I'm not sure if he's played 4th yet though so he may be reluctant.

Probably not. We've got several bands playing that day and I'm likely to be rather tied up with that.

Re: Campaign Challenges and Battles

I'm going to have to sit this out guys. Sorry, it's my Mum's Birthday next week and my Dad has arranged stuff to happen on the Sunday. I've no idea how late this will be going on so I think it's best if you all go ahead. Thanks for planning around me and sorry I can't join in. I'll definitely be in ...

Re: Campaign Challenges and Battles

I'd be up for that. Sorry for not really engaging with the campaign. The ebay fleet I purchased didn't contain all the ships I wanted so I'd planned to scratch-build them. As often happens I got started but other things got in the way and that project has been pushed back rather. In a larger game I'...

I got an email too. I gave the Duke's address (which is also my home address of course). This could be interesting.

I hope everything is alright and that we'll see you at the Duke for other games and/or a pint and a chat.

Re: Back to V3 - discuss

I think there are far more reasons to keep V4 over V3 than not (particularly as a Soviet player :D). There are clearly some issues with points for most units. Some things have been heavily nerfed with the rules changes but their points have not yet been adjusted to reflect this. There are clearly so...

The 25th is no good for CJ and I (off to watch Wales vs New Zealand) and the 26th might well see us both too hungover to play.

Re: FoW - New Player

I discovered last week that a list of Shermans tends to blow up easy, though that may have had something to do with Stu's "Tiger Killer" main guns :D ) It wasn't a fair fight. T-34-85s, while stationary and at close range, while nearly always beat a Sherman (better armour and gun). If you...

Interesting stuff for the Brits here: https://firestorm.warconsole.com/208616

It appears to be semi-official but not 100% finished yet (the author said he rushed it a little to get it out in time).
