Re: WW2 France Road Trip, Summer 2018
Is there still an appetite to do this? I'm aware that if we want to make this happen, I need to start looking at making some actual arrangements and bookings, and not just vague plans. The first week of Jun wasn't good for people; how is the week of the 18th? Potentially leaving on the 17th, and ret...

Some TY at some point sounds great. Jono, did you say at some point that you might try to organise a small event or some games evenings?

Re: Late War Fortress Italy game?
Happy to try to work out a Brit list (inf or armoured) from Road To Rome and give you a game some time. Potentially anywhere from 1500 to 1750pts? Your call. For timings, any time this week is good (except Monday, natch), including weekend. Next week isn't great, as I'm likely away on Weds night wit...

Re: Flames of War - Easterfront
Right, as we've not had masses of uptake, Easterfront will not be run as a competitive tournament - instead we'll just have a day of playing some Round Robin games. The same ground rules and assumptions apply: 1550pts EW, I'll try to set up some terrain of types that we don't always get to use, and ...

Re: Flames of War - Easterfront
Glad to get a couple of responses! I was getting concerned. I've tried to message (via this forum) a few more people to try to get some of our other FoW "veterans" whom we've not seen for a bit. But please also feel free to spread the word to anyone you think may be interested. I'd ideally...

Flames of War - Easterfront
Easterfront is one of our two main annual Flames of War events - the other being Tanksgiving. This year, we are playing Early War, as follows: Date: Sat 07 Apr Times: setup from 0900; Round One 0930 - 1200; Round Two 1230 - 1500; Round Three 1530 - 1800 Lists: Any valid EW book or PDF, including Pac...

That's more a placeholder. I'm not committed to any dates yet. I thought being there for the actual anniversary of D-Day would be nice, but not critical.

Re: PSC acquires Armies Army
I got some minor bits and pieces from Armies Army for my Brits; I've always thought their stuff was good, and they definitely filled some gaps in the range (or, what should have been BF's range!) - it definitely looks like PSC are trying to steal Battlefront's near-modern sandwiches...

I'm well aware that I've done nothing with this for some months; however I'm still keen to make this happen. As much as I'd like to have included going a little further (to the armour museum at Saumur and the sub pens at St Nazaire), the return crossing from St Malo is an impractical 8.5hrs, and ove...

Re: Easterfront 2018 Early War Points
They will certainly be a valid entry, and, similarly to some of the special missions listed above, it would be morally wrong of me not to allow you to play a glider landing mission if you did bring them. I understand the fear of draws in the abstract; however let's try to get a couple of EW Inf game...

Re: Easterfront 2018 Early War Points
My only concern would be that if we get a lot of infantry players than three 1550 point games could go on for a long time! I definitely hear where you're coming from, and for v3 I would very definitely have agreed with you. Due to the movement speeds in v4, while I accept that infantry will play a ...

Re: Easterfront 2018 Early War Points
Happy new year, all. Easterfront brainstorming: Date: 24th/25th Mar or 7th/8th April - avoiding the Easter weekend itself, but remaining close by. Lists: Any 1550 EW. This includes Pacific War points, and Raiding Aces. It is possible, albeit very very silly to create a raiding force at 1550pts. Whet...

I can probably do up to about 120 or 125 of Brits, but I'd generally prefer to play approx 75-80pts, and avoid taking anti-fun numbers of Milans.

Re: Attention world war type gaming people
José technically remains the system rep for WW2 - but I know his interest is more toward Dust (Weird War 2), so for what it's worth, here are my thoughts: "Historical" possibly works as a section title, as could "World War 2". I'm not aware of much other historical gaming being p...

I have Only War, plus Hammer of the Emperor and Final Testament - bought, but never got around to using. All in very good condition.
Probably looking for £ over swaps, unless you have anything particularly unusual or interesting RPG-wise.

Anyone up for a game on Tues 02nd or Weds 03rd?
I've a couple of EW lists I'm keen to try out. I'm also thinking about a few rules for Easterfront in order to mix things up a bit, but would like to discuss them with another person before I go firm on any!

How is Weds 03 Jan for you? I'm technically back at work that day, but doubt it'll be the longest day ever. Otherwise, if you can do Tues 02, I'm off that day, so can happily do an afternoon game if that suits?

Re: Easterfront 2018 Early War Points
My 1525 may as well be a 1550, TBH.
So, on the basis that we have a fairly strong, if not unanimous consensus, does anyone fancy a game of 1550 EW next week? Tues or Weds evenings, or any time on Thurs/Fri.

We're near to wrapping our current campaign, and I've (been?) volunteered to run something next. At the moment the front-runner is L5R, but this is still subject to debate (https://doodle.com/poll/ru3awugmvcqt6vap). Start date will depend on the current game wrapping up, but would be likely to be la...

I'd still rather close this campaign off properly than let it fade away. Has anyone else noticed that since Cai got sucked into the murky world of X-Wing, we’ve not actually seen many / any US Armies at our recent events? Ok, BF have over-nerfed US Armour to a degree, but I may look to get my US stuff back on the board during ‘18 (sure, it’s nowhere near as good as it w...

Re: Easterfront 2018 Early War Points
I've voted 1525, but am happy to go anywhere from 1500 to 1575. To my mind, 1250 is a bit low, especially given the lack of "swiss army knife" multi-purpose platoons in EW. The tools are so specialised that you really need all of them to stand a chance. I'm also very happy to play some TY ...

So I reached out to ‘The Oracle’ and 1550 early is seen as giving balanced play (especially with Armour / Tank Companies); in true BF tradition, above 1550pts and Soviet Barbarossa Armoured list rule supreme (Tank Spam) and Brits can field an unhealthy number of Infantry Tanks (Matilda / Valentine ...

Tanksgiving 2017: surprised at how many 8-1 games there were? Not sure if this a feature of the new rules or a characteristic of playing Tank Companies at relatively few points (not sure it detracted from a great day for everyone however). I think it's a combination of things - low points, generall...
