Re: Stripes: Intel / Releases

Pre-orders are up on BF site; just in time for Xmas! :) All the new stuff looks v nice. Once the book is out I can decide if I want to go Marines or Air Mobile. Not too enamoured with mech platoons or M113s in MERDC. My M1s are done - yay! Now working on Cobras in USMC colours (only cos it looks nic...

Re: Stripes: Intel / Releases

Bradleys are coming in 'late' TY, along with M1A1s, Apaches, etc, so likely to be a desert/middle east setting. Main thing I'm grumpy about is the lack of Blackhawks, but it makes sense to use the Huey given the Nam/early TY revamp thats coming. Interested to see how they handle the twin engined hue...

Re: Stripes

Thx Stu. Once I finish the M1s I'll be able to field 46pts of tanks with VADS air cover, so should be enough to start getting my head round some of the rules. I'll keep you posted

Stripes

Stripes is due late Nov - Yay! Disappointing lack of Bradleys and Blackhawks, but maybe those will follow. USMC might be fun; Peter Pig has some lovely little USMC guys that I already have a ton of. I was going to mix them with BF to make a couple of mech platoons, but I may hold off and see what ha...

What it needs is a shedload of new US toys! :D
I'm not finding much time to paint stuff. Hasn't helped that I'm experimenting with colour modulation on my M1s... I'll get there one day!

Re: Team Yankee Campaign Interest?

I'm guessing you've all seen the 'Total War' PDF thats on the TY site along with Red Thunder launch stuff? Basically rules for multi-formation, multi-player 150-400+ point games. What's not to like?

PSC modern

From Will today: The PSC design team have just started work on a 15mm Leopard 1 kit with A1, A3/4, Gepard, A5 and C1 options (to be confirmed) This follows on from demand for their new 15mm T55 with more options than you can ever want or need. It did strike me as odd that BF chose to do high points ...

Re: Flags

I came to the same conclusion. No end of wargaming sites with double sided Confederate flags. I may use one or two of those on my 1980s US tanks, cos I'm old enough to remember Dukes of Hazzard, and the Southern Cross being a fashion symbol! I've been experimenting with tinfoil for tarps, so will tr...

Re: Stockists and V4

Can't fault Firestorm for online service. Prices are comparable to Wayland games, ie 10% off list, but they don't advertise the same breadth of range. That said, they're generally quicker than Wayland to get specific items to order. Occasional bargains come up on eBay; I recently got a new, sealed b...

Flags

Anybody know where I can acquire modern era 15mm (or scalable) wargaming flags, esp US Stars & Stripes? Not bothered if decal, paper, free or £. I want to use flags on aerials, or draped over vehicles, to denote HQ teams, but all I can find online is ACW stuff. I could paint them freehand on tin...

Re: Team Yankee Campaign Interest?

I'm about to finish 4 VADs, after a long dry spell of very sporadic painting. Plus I have a box of M1 Abrams on the way, which could be done by August with a bit of luck. Depends on when BF release the new book(s) for Yanks, and what distracting stuff goes along with that (Bradleys and M60s are almo...

Re: Help to choose airbrush

A lot also depends on your budget. For wargaming minis, the cheaper end of the market is probably enough. I use a dual-action Neo by Iwata, which is the beginner level Iwata brush. Dual-action is essential cos it means you're controlling both the airflow and the quantity of paint delivered. I would ...

Re: TY: Best Tank - Article....

Ah, but its not the length of the pencil, etc.
Imo it comes down to the style of play you prefer, and how much time &£ you have to throw at painting tanks.
Plus, tanks are not everything in TY; all the infantry bristle with AT, so it's not all that clear cut.

V4 Multiple formations

Apologies if I'm stating the obvious, but hadn't realised until reading Breakthrough Assault today, the potential usefulness of taking multiple formations. So it becomes possible to field a formation/company with a smaller formation working in conjunction. For instance, under V3, Nachtjager has both...

Re: Flames of War v4 House Rules Thread

Obvious question, but worth asking; these issues/questions are not already covered in Field Manual 101? I'm pretty sure there was something in there about Blitz move, and it being pretty self evident that if teams have moved 4" they aren't going to carry their foxholes with them! Edit: Doh! FM1...

Re: V4; what else?!

I know about the MW books, but the front gives the impression the rulebook only covers 39-41 and 44-45, rather than all periods. If they wanted to simplify it then why not just have one rule book for the whole war and keep the forces books separate? I'd love to play Stu, but time is not on my side a...

V4; what else?!

My new V4 books arrived today. Very groovy, same simpler feel as TY. It all seems a lot less overwhelming now. Must admit to being a bit confused about what's going on with MW and why that period is specifically excluded. So what does everyone think? Anyone played a V4 game yet? Unfortunately I'm st...

Re: Flames of War events - looking forward

At least if there're fewer rules then it gives blow-ins like me a chance of remembering some of them from one game to the next. I think I played about two games in 2016, so hoping to improve on that this year.

Re: Flames of War events - looking forward

Aligning TY and FoW makes perfect sense, otherwise swapping between the two becomes a real headache. I guess FoW just has more special rules. I do wish BF would give special rules a consistent name when they have the same effect in different places. Lots of examples, but most recent I remember is Sw...

I might email BF and find out what's happening with people who bought V3 on the digital app.

Re: Getting into TY

Made a start on some VADS, just to experiment with MERDC. Starting army of 50pts will be: HQ 1 x M1 8pt 2 x 2 M1 platoons 32pt 2 x Cobra 7pt 2 x VADS 3pt If Stripes isn't out by the time I paint that lot then it will expand to: HQ 2 x M1 16pt (2nd HQ is useful for missions with reserves) M1 plat 4 x...
