Re: Vanquish 2016

This entire rules pack is a titanic leap back to the dark days of flyer/wave serpent spam. As a Knight player, I am massively affected by the decision to ban Lords of War (I bought a Knight Lancer just for Vanquish). I did say that if you went that way, I wasn't going to go to Vanquish, and that was...

Not much of a drinker, so I'll be headed over to BIG for X-Wing. Appreciate the offer, though. It's not often I get invited out for a pint. :D

That look on Legolas' face is spot on.

Borrowing a team for Gert.

Hi, guys.

I will be spare player-ing for Liam at Gert, and I have an itch that can only be scratched by Wood Elves. Would one of you lovely people be willing to lend me a team with 2x Wardancers, 2x Throwers, 4x Catchers, 2x Line Elves, and 1x Treeman?

Re: Bear Wars II - Playoffs

People mostly don't bring the super filthy tournament style lists to Bear Wars so different styles of lists are more successful Thanks for saying I won because everyone took sub-optimal (read: S***) lists, Sam. :D I managed to beat James' top-16-at-Nationals BroBot list with my All-Stars, so I'd sa...

Re: So I Bought a 7th ed Rulebook

Assuming you have the tactical cards, it's a deck of cards that you draw from as described in the set up for the Maelstrom of War missions - cards numbered 11-66 each with a specific mission printed on it. If you look in the rulebook at the mission objective chart - a D66 chart - they're exactly the...

Re: So I Bought a 7th ed Rulebook

The codex-specific cards are limited. You might get lucky and find some in a non-GW shop, or on eBay. The generic cards and the psychic cards are on general sale from the website, GW stores, and any of their stockists. Necrons will be the only cards you're missing though, as the other factions you h...

For what it's worth, the 40k crowd at Vanguard is fairly varied, and some are willing to play against the ultra power lists. Just make it clear before you ask for a game what kind of game you're after, and you'll be fine. :D

Re: What to do in the Age of Sigmar. Or, where to get my competitive fix. An Essay.

If you want a balanced, competitive game, play X-Wing. Like James said, we have some of the best competitive gamers in the country here in Bristol (at Nationals, our very own Vargas mad the top 16 cut, and the rest of us finished in the top half of the table - Skindog beat two previous UK champions)...

That's the point; it's for friendly games so I can use my toys, and get to use new stuff like the doctrines and formations...
