Re: Are people still playing 8th Edition?

Yeah I can sympathise mate, like your squats my Templars can still be used (variant guard and space marines respectively) its just not as what the past fluff dictated they were - it's just not the same

Re: Are people still playing 8th Edition?

Can't speak for Infinity but I too dabbled in 40k but lost interest with most recent edition as it was getting ridiculous with the power creep (u struggle to compete unless you have the new big thing - knights for example), trying to keep up with what were the most up to date rules (and all of the r...

Happy to take you up on that any time Tin God, although other than Tuesday's at BIG it would have to be a weekend. My army of choice is ogres but as per my sig below take your pick on any of my armies you'd like to face. PM me whenever you'd fancy a game

Re: Are people still playing 8th Edition?

To build on what Matt has said there are numerous players still around that will play 8th (I am one of them) as very few people seem to actually like AoS. The other big event being worked on at the moment is 9th age (essentially a ruleset with 8th ed Warhammer Fantasy battle at its core but tweaked ...

Looking at the figures for Reading (AoS against 8th) it may have been cancelled. I can't see a listing for it either

Re: Round bases

Sam perhaps you should think before you write such inflammatory posts. If you re-read my posts, you'll see I was just pointing out it might be the best idea to stick with square bases for versatility.given the options available. AoS is widely regarded a poor game but some seem to like it (as you poi...

Re: The 9th Age Website

Given GW has invested very little in game development and playtesting (not even sure they understand what playtesting is) and is openly disinterested in how their minis are used as long as people are buying them (they've moved from a wargame maker to miniature maker) is it really that surprising tha...

Re: Round bases

Your call of course but general consensus in local area is that it will fail(most believe it already has failed), just seems sensible to keep them square with all the other fantasy rulesets people are now playing and with the prospect of 9th Age.

Re: Round bases

I'd keep your fantasy minis on square bases if I were you mate. AoS will fail epically. Do the sensible thing and join all of your old sparring partners in 9th age. If u insist on playing AoS I'd still keep your minis on square bases so that your minis can be used with WFB 8th edition, 9th age, King...

Re: The 9th Age Website

James forget the tournament application as that only interests a small part of the gaming community. What is more important is that they write a balanced ruleset (which seems to be the plan) that allows Warhammer fans to continue playing the game they love. On the matter of new units, etc. there hav...

Re: The 9th Age Website

Who is behind this? Not sure I like the idea of changing units points costs and new army books made by some random in a shed. It's much bigger and better than that Matt. It's a ruleset being developed through playtesting (an alien concept to GW) and community input (just spend some time looking int...

Re: The 9th Age Website

Looks very promising. I don't know enough about the existing Beastmen book to notice what has changed but if the giant rules and their much reduced cost are anything to go by, when ogres get treated I may start regularly using my giant(s) as they look quite good now at 140 points

Re: So, Who's playing what now?

I'm with Toxicmog, AoS just looks a mess on the tabletop and far too similar to 40k so I am now committed to ignoring its existence. Having looked at the 9th age rules and the now completed Beastman book (Bueno take a look) it's looking extremely promising. Based on comments on the 9th age website (...

On an additional note I have acquired a movement tray that I believe belongs t...

Re: So, Who's playing what now?

I too am swearing off AoS (for the mo at least) as the game reads as and looks a complete mess and frankly is just fantasy themed 40k (if I wanted to play 40k I'd have been playing 40k!). WAB appeals as I believe it uses one of the old fantasy rulesets (more or less), and I may give Kings of War a g...

Re: AOS PDFS ARE UP

Ken, according to Andi at BIG no-one has ordered AoS so you may be waiting a while.... Rossatdi, your point is well made and you're right that is what we should do (that is a well phrased letter too) but GW will likely just put any such post in the bin as they openly admit they don't listen to their...
