Are monsterous creatures allowed?
If so a tame flyrant who loves to shoot brain worms at the backs of planes.

Sorry, I haven't gotten very far with the list. Busy getting stuff sorted before my wife comes home. I did find my slightly battered but still airborne stormraven.

Vendetta - 170
Vendetta - 170
Vendetta - 170
Storm Talon (SkH) - 115
Storm Talon (SkH) - 115
Storm Raven (AC & MM) - 200
Storm Eagle (2TL-L & MM & Ceremite) - 300
Fire Raptor (Reapers & Ceremite & Hellstrikes) - 250
Storm Wolf - 235
Crimson Hunter Exarch - 160 [Adam Sardar has one, I'll check]
= 1885

I think we would be well served spending the rest on those S*** fighter ace upgrades but I don't even know where the most up to date rules for them are. Any ideas?

I was thinking we give the Storm Eagle the Battle of Phall upgrade for 40pts for +1 Jink.

Good work, wing commander Ross!

I think we need a full robot check too. How many Knights can we access to support the Reaver and Warhound?

It's no robot buuuut, I can paint Corax up.

Corax can only be snap-shotted at if he's not the closest unit to the shooter, which may be useful in apoc with all the templates.

Just a thought ... maybe not a good one!

Good organising guys! (I promise not to let HATE know about your super secret plans. Much.)

So, I've got a yellow Knight to go with the Reaver and Warhound, and I'm sure we can find some stuff to go with them on the day. If we're to face any chance at all against that Warlord, we need a *lot* of 'D'.

With Cai addition of a super heavy flyer, we have a solid (varied) imperial 2k attack wing:

Maurader Destroyer with Hellstrike Missiles = 505
Vendetta - 170
Vendetta - 170
Vendetta - 170
Storm Raven (AC & MM) - 200
Storm Eagle (2TL-L & MM & Ceremite) - 300
Fire Raptor (Reapers & Ceremite & Hellstrikes) - 250
Storm Wolf - 235
= 2000

As it currently stands we have:
4 flyers with av12 melta immuninty
10 str8 ordnance missiles
4 multi-meltas in the air (the Storm Wolf has two right?)
Equivalent of 7 twin-linked autocannons (each Raptor turret is essentially two)
6 twin-linked lascannons
No armour under 12 except for on the super heavy.

The super heavy flyer probably isn't as efficient as two more heavy space marine flyers but it's a major psychological impact on the game as well as looking coooooooool. Also, can anyone find the restriction on how many missiles a flyer can shoot a turn? I think it's been removed, which would theoretically mean that the Maurader can fire all eight Hellstrikes in one volley.

Roger, Roger. What's our vector, Victor?

Careful use of reserves is going to be key. If we use the super heavy and some other tough guys as bait, we can then jump in from reserve. If they're really running mostly chaos and xenos, we'll be at an advantage in terms of resillience but they're going to have good alpha strike potential.

i thknk there will be a lot of hell drakes, that prevent our jinking. as you say key is to bring the more resiliant flyers in first and then smack down any thing that comes in!

itll be an intresting game for sure, looking forward to it! im also assuming we can use hover which may well help up?!

I seem to recall something about not being able to hover (same with the FMC equivalent) but I can't find Paul's scenario. I've asked him for it but it will be a good tactic we're allowed to use it, to reposition mostly. The Fire Raptor is going to be great for getting shots off on the rear armour of things.

With the Vendettas, we should keep them in formation and use them to clear out or jink/supress high priority targets. The various multi-melta planes are going to be key. Since they're all twin-linked, they basically necessitate jink as a reaction so we can use them to lock down key targets. Similarly, against anything with armoured ceremite on their side - if we just unload hellstrikes into them, it should do the job.

***** Pertinent Dogfight Information *****

  • I'm not telling you what the mission is. You'll have to wait until the Sunday for that (this game is scheduled for first thing on the Sunday).
  • You will have to remain Zooming | Swooping the entire time.

So with this game being on Sunday I can't actually make it :-(

I'll leave you my flyers there for use on the day though.

Paul, when's the big game? Looks like I'll be doing that after all!!

It's all in the Rules Pack, but I accept it is a rules pack with a lot of info, so:

Saturday
Round 1: 400pt + BFG
Round 2: 6000pt triples + 1000pt + BFG
Round 3: 6000pt triples (cont) + 2000pt + BFG

Sunday
Round 4: Dogfight (2 players, 2K) + 1000pt doubles
Round 5: 2000pt

I've convinced Adam Sardar to fly it with me. He's a former Vanguard member, now living in Oxford, who was threaten to turn hired gun on us. The offer of flying lots high powered flyers seems to have won his loyalty.

Dan, I'm going to fly your Storm Eagle as a Roc-pattern variant with multi-meltas on the front. Is that okay?

I figure we can use the Roc launcher more.
