Horus Heresy novels

Postby hannibal » Sat Nov 14, 2015 12:44 pm

So I've got a lot/most of the Horus heresy novels and i was looking at the other ones I don't own

Has anyone read
Legion - the Alpha Legion one
Nemesis - about assassins
Furious Abyss- about a massive space ship?
If so are any of them any good and worth reading?

Legion is by Dan Abnett and is excellent.
Nemesis is okay, but doesn't lead into other novels - read it if you need a hit of 30k fiction and don't have anything else to hand.
Furious Abyss is terrible. I'd skip it.

But that's just, like, my opinion, man.

You should definitely read legion as its great insight into alpha legion and the perpetuals story line.

Dude that's, like, awesome,

might pick up Legion, Nemesis appeals cos I really like assassins,
hadn't heard anything great about the Furious Abyss so happy to skip that,

Read Legion - put it down for a while and then re-read. Your take on stuff will change.

Nemesis is OK but, as mentioned above doesn't really take the story anywhere.

Legion is amazing until that moment where it becomes infuriatingly S***, you scream and then burn it.

Love Dan Abnett ones, the others are all forgettable really as are mostly written by fan boys rather than real writers

I vastly prefer Aaron Demski Bowden to Abnett. I think he does a much better job with marines than any other 40K author I have read.

That said Legion is not bad.

I must admit that even as an avid Abnett fanboy A.D.B has won me over with his heresy villain books.
