Stockists and V4

Postby Wiggles » Mon Jun 05, 2017 10:02 pm

So AFAIK, none of our local FLGS's (or BIG) stock Flames or TY.

Would I be right in thinking that Firestorm is the closest store we have? Do their in store prices compete with online prices at all?

Also do we know how to play a v3 army vs a v4 army? Are my mid-war paras essentially out of the picture until a v4 list is made for them (or unless I play other v3 armies?

The easy answer is that MW Paras would still be playable against other v3-listed armies, e.g. Eastern Front, US, Italians, etc. For the medium-term future, I think 100pts of v4 is roughly equivalent to about 1500pts of old v3, but I wouldn't bet on them being properly playable against each other.

Yeah, I thought the situation might be something like that.

Firestorm stock is not what it once was - sadly. The transition from V3 to V4 appears to have led to a dip in interest (and Firestorm can better use the space for other products). They have a decent range of the plastic box sets for both TY and Mid / Late; sadly the awesome stock of blister packs they carried is no more - looks like it's being run down......

I tend to use Frome Model Centre these days - has good a stock of Flames and TY (possibly a better stock across both systems). Worth phoning or checking the website before you travel would be my recommendation
Team Yankee: US / Soviet Armour
Flames of War: EW British Armour / LW US Armour
DUST Tactics: Allied / USMC

Can't fault Firestorm for online service. Prices are comparable to Wayland games, ie 10% off list, but they don't advertise the same breadth of range. That said, they're generally quicker than Wayland to get specific items to order.
Occasional bargains come up on eBay; I recently got a new, sealed box of M1 Abrams (oh yes!) for £18 & free postage; around £9 cheaper than online and £12 under rrp.
Also get on the PSC mailing list, cos he loves a flash sale.

Speaking of which, Wayland is currently offering 20% off list on BF TY models. Just don't bother with anything that's not in stock!
