Interesting - my feeling is that this will exacerbate some of the issues with v4 (i.e. the disparity in how easy companies with lots of core units are to break vs support-heavy choices), unless the new v4 forces book is both well balanced and actively mandated by tournament organisers.

Although, on a first inspection, it looks like the book will cover "the big four" only, and won't yet include other nations, variant forces, etc.

Personally I'm quite fond of lower points, although I do recognise that this limits certain types of forces (principally heavy tanks) more than others.

I'd actually be quite excited to try 1250 early war. Lots of naff tanks running about.

1780 points (plus rebates!) makes for pretty big games I think, I'd definitely consider doubling up on formations quite often.

Low points EW makes sense to me, as it's a comparatively low lethality era. Otherwise big games can really drag on, with neither side able to actually kill each other off...

Early and even Mid seem sensible (although I've still not played a game of Mid with new points - but in theory, having looked at the new books it seems 'sensible').

Tournament organisers could have their work cut out at 1780pts of late war; it's awesome news for Armoured companies - nightmare for Mech / Infantry vs anything else however (just had a look at my FJ's from Fortress Italy - I've no idea how an opponent could shift that many fearless (2+) Panzerfaust toting loonies with buckets of Artillery and A/T support).

TY just seems to be an attempt to manage BMP 'Spam-drel' lists (and possibly British Mech); in doing so, it probably plays into the hands of DDR lists (no bad thing given that PSC produce decent T55 kits). I'm guessing west German lists will just have to give up on Leo 2's???

Games of Early War anyone?
