Dreadball Tournament in Wales - 2nd August - Results up

Postby Monk » Sat Jun 28, 2014 10:03 am

So the new South Wales pathfinder is running a tournament in early August and I am looking to try and go give him some support.

https://www.facebook.com/events/254941274696081/

Rulespack you will see is pretty much what we used in the last megalofunotron as he has used mine as a basis.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/ykzhbji5whs72 ... k%20V1.pdf

Tickets are £15 and includes lunch which looks like KFC (YUK)

Anyone fancy coming along with me and sharing travel costs?

Do they have to be Mantic Miniatures or would I be able to use my Shadowforge Orcs?

What are you doing about tickets Buddy? Is it easier if I get my own, or can I paypal you and have you look after them for me as my Designated Driver on the day?

I thought you needed immunisations if you were heading up towards the River Mersey? Far as I knew, you just needed to wash your hands in Wales, especially after shaking anyone else's hands. God knows if they've washed theirs after visiting the nearest farm/brothel...

So ice started looking at my line up for the weekend (which came round crazy fast).

In all the games I've played for he league it seems an offensive coach and card lead to crazy scoring potential. 4 actions on a striker mean you can run rings round the pitch to score that hail marry 4 pointer.

On the other hand skills are run and could give you some monster players... Or just fail horribly. What is everyone else thinking? Obviously we want bristol to clean up here with 1st 2nd 3rd and wooden spoon.

I've been torn. I reckon I can easily clear up with Nameless but I don't enjoy playing so I have elected to go with my Z'Zor

Going to go with:

Game 1 - 2nd Guard
Game 2 - 3 skills on Jacks (3+ skill makes life so easy)
Game 3 - Card or 2 skills on Guard
Game 4 - Dice

Thing to remember as well is that they are using the weather rules for this event which can make life a ball ache

Over the day could end up with 10 ranks purchased.... That's allot of beefcake guard to take into ultimate.

Yeah. I am finding it hard to balance as I really want the second guard but he is stupidly expensive :@ and it's balanced against a coach.

I don't like that the weather can change at any point, even in the middle of a rush where you have used 4 actions to set something up that may get screwed over.

Cool all rosters are done and printed for you :-)

Looks like fuel will cost about £45 for the round trip plus bridge.

I shall pick CJ up at 06:30, tom about 06:40 and Josh at 06:45

I'm gonna find it hard with no strikers so I've gone with the following:

1. Tina Turnover (G)
2. Joan Armour-Plating (G)
3. Badass Knight (G)

5. Bouncy Knowles (J)
6. Chukka (Tin) Can (J)
7. Tracy Hackum (J)
8. Whoopsie Goldberg (J)
9. Thud-ya Newton (J)

Decided to go with 2 Cheerleaders just because it's fun, and I don't think anyone else will.

Mad Lynn (Cheerleader) 8 MC
Karryon (Cheerleader) 8 MC

I know a better option is to buy rank increases, cards or dice, but where is the fun in that? :D

Had an absolutely wicked time in Wales. Managed to come in 17th out of 18 missing out on the wooden spoon by 1 point, and came in 2nd in the best painted team, again missing out by 1 point. I did however come away with the title of Bloodiest Player, managing to kill at couple of team members from every team I played against, including 3 kills in the final Ultimate game. A great day out and a great group of lads to play against.

Big thanks to Liam for driving us down there. His time keeping was spot on. When he said he was picking us up at 06:30, 06:40 and 06:45 he was at each pick up point exactly at those times. Not a minute earlier, not a minute later. Shiny driving dude!

All in all a fantastic time and well worth the 2 hour drive. :D
