South West Tournament Championship 2015-2016

Postby Lunchmoney » Mon Aug 31, 2015 5:49 pm

Image

The South West Tournament Championship has been running a few years now and encomapasses 11 tournaments run by 10 tournament organisers (if the extras go ahead) in the rough area of south west England and Wales.

Starting with Exebowl, in October, and ending with Exiles Open, in September, all coaches who attend these events are entered into the Championship. Once a coach has attended 3 they are eligible to win the trophy.

To qualify for the SWTC you must attend at least 3 of the 11 mentioned tournaments. Your 3 highest placings in the ones you attend will used for your score; however there must be at least two different races in those 3. If you take Wood Elves (for example) for a third time your lowest score with them will drop off and not be considered, or if you take Skaven to all 11 only 2 will be considered for the SWTC score.

The coach who places first will receive 10 points, second 9 points, third 8 points and so on down to 9th place winning 2 points. Everyone else, from 10th down, scores 1 point. Then every coach is awarded a bonus point for every full 10 coaches below them in the ranking.
This means everyone scores for playing and those that top the tables at larger events (inherently harder to do) earn a few more points to reflect the extra challenge. One day events award half points.
For example, the top placed coach in a 32-coach tournament will gain 13 points (10+3), whereas the winner of 20-man tournament will gain 11 points (10+1).

Alongside this (and separately) is the SWTC Stunty Cup. The highest placed Stunty Coach will receive 10 points, second place 9 points third 8 points and so on down to 9th place winning 2 points. Everyone else scores 1. Then every coach is awarded a bonus point for every full 10 coaches (Stunty or not) below them in the ranking. The "two races" caveat on the main score is dropped in the case of the Stunty Cup. Qualifying Stunty teams are Goblins, Halflings, Ogres, Lizards with no Saurus and Underworld with no Skaven. Again, one day events will only award half points.
For example, a Stunty coach finishes 8th in a 20 coach tournament and wins the Stunty Cup. For the main list they earn 4 points (3+1). For the Stunty Cup they earn 11 points (10+1).

After the points are counted at Exiles Open in September a trophy will be awarded to the highest placed Coach and Stunty Coach.

The format hasn't really changed but if anyone has any questions, please ask.

Exebowl 2 - 17th October 2015 (1 day, 1/2 points) - Camsbell1514 wins
Albion Coast Trophy 3 - 29th November 2015 (1 day, 1/2 points) - DrDeath wins

I give myself three tournaments before I get frustrated and try to go for the stunty instead of the normal prizes.

Tables updated post ACT3. DrDeath jumps into the lead, but will he compete at a third event to get in the running?
And Merrick is ruling the roost for Stunties!

Yeah, and most of those will be full points. So you've got a nice head start, but might need to bump your score through the summer.

Results updated and Hawk stays in the lead. And Merrick officially takes the lead in the Stunty table by being the first to complete 3 tourneys with Stunties :)

Darn it! If one dayers didn't count for half if be doing quite well!

Are the stunties scores calculated as part of their overall tournament ranking, or relative to the other stunties in the tournament?

If enough people complain the organisers (who is basically just me now) may be persuaded to change that.

Both. For the main table the score is relative to your overall placing, the Stunty table only counts the Stunty races.

Or am I miss reading your question?

Nope, that makes sense. I mean in the stunty table, lets say I was the best stunty at a tournament but I came 3rd from bottom overall, and Merrick was the best stunty at another tourney at came 3rd overall. In terms of the Stunty cup, would we be level?

You would get 10 points. Merrick would also get 10 points plus 1 for every 10 coaches below him. He would probably get more points, and he has earned them by placing higher than you :)

Quick question! My table rankings say my best three performances were with High Elves, Pro Elves and Ogres, but I've taken Pro Elves twice and done better than ogres (I think!). Should it not be PE, PE, HE, or am I being dense?

There is an error (Dionysian spotted it) where the AWM2 results were entered with real names not NAF names, so they are being counted separately. This is what happens when I rush it out when getting ready for work in the morning. I'll be fixing that this evening as I need my server access software that is on my PC at home (so cant do anything with it whilst at work).

As for your results, Trumpkin, this fix may amend things for you. I'll double check it when I run the numbers again.
