*ahem* as your sempai

I also had that feeling the first event I went to but there's nothing to worry about.

Everyone will be lovely and you'll get to play a few games against some new people from elsewhere, and most likely get your ass kicked while you're at it.

Good times...

Seconded!!!

Your first foray into warmahordes is all about getting your butt handed to you as there is just too much info to process with all the millions of variants of casters, units, solos etc

However you will soon begin to be able to compete better once you get a handle of how the different factions play, and one of the best ways to get experience playing different factions is through friendly events like this one.

This whole Tides of war thing is not for the uber competitive gamer but for those just starting out on their journey or those who are rekindling a passion for the game. For the more experienced and battle hardened campaigner, its a great chance to use that caster you've never got round to playing or that warbeast that looks ok but you just never seem to be able to squeeze it into your competitive lists.

These evenst have an element of competition but mainly are for fun so do not worry at all.

Very interested in this. Not sure if I'm free that weekend, will have to check. In case I am, two questions. One are tier lists allowed? Secondly do forces have to be fully painted (will influence what I might bring). Cheers Al

Going from general experience. As this is a Steamroller tournament (or so I assume, might be good to put that on the event page)

1: Tier lists are always allowed
2: Painted models are not a requirement but, you will need to mark the front arcs of your models

This ! Although its not officially a Steamroller event it will borrow heavily from the format.

Ok, all that about 'gaining experience' and 'it's a good thing to get your ass handed to you!' is all well and good for the n00b (moi!) but is it fair to enter a tournament when you are still new? Like, fair to those who might end up playing you? They'd beat me in a few rounds and sit there whistling for the rest of the day! Maybe they might like more of a fight? They're paying too...

Arigatou, sempai! *blushes*

:p

*EDIT* I am asking the above out of interest, to see what tournament players think about this... rather than being belligerent, as it might sound :p *I'm super niiice*

Well Binty-kun

There will be less spare time than you expect. Even if someone does win in 2-3 rounds theres at best an hour left and most of that is spent chatting or watching other people playing. After going to a lot of tournaments I actually like quick games because by the end of the third or fourth full length game i'm usually exhausted.

Tournaments are more about the atmosphere and meeting new people rather than the length or quanitity of games, or at least it is for me. If people want more of a fight they'll get it before the last round as the pairing process matches people up.

Ah cool! Thanks for answering! :D

That's interesting, and heart warming to read! Blimey, I never expected the fluffy, sweetie, social side to war gaming :D I think I am fast running out of time to enter this one sadly. I am scraping 35 points anyway (I think I always play 34 because it just doesn't work out!) and my Christmas presents aren't assembled yet.
I'll be moving house any moment too! Sad timing!

You should definate come along. It'll be the first time I've played at an event in about 3 years, so you'll be in the same boat as me.

What's the points value for this?

I'm sort of half painted with my Rhulic Mercs (along with my SS, my Saga and my Bushido) and might, just might have time to finish them if the points value is not too high.

Tell me about it. I actually thought someone had fiddled with the clock in my van while I was out as it said 11:35 and I was convinced it was at least half past three.

[Sad face :( ]

I think I can have 35 points painted by then.

It is just pay on the day and only reason to sign up is to give us an idea of numbers. I have no idea whats going on with the forum I have no clue how to sort it out so if anyone has knowledge of working with Wordpress and is feeling kind enough to give me a hand it would be appriciated.

Just to confirm we don't have to have fully painted forces do we?

(I'm going to try to have everything at least basecoated and blue, but I don't think I can get it all done in time.
