Starting Halifax; any advice?!

Postby Tau John » Sun Jan 11, 2015 8:25 pm

I'm looking at starting a gang, and was after some feedback and had a couple of questions! I've read through the viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1357 thread and PullMyFinger...

First, before I invest are there many players out there? This seems to be a fairly quiet subforum, is everyone lurking?!

I'm really tempted by Leveticus, I also really like tara but I can't seem to find the gang? Or the Viktorias? There are just so many fab choices! Any advice? Are there masters people just think 'ugh, don't want to play that'?

I have ordered the rule book and a fate deck, now just to decide on the Master!

Hi Mate, there are a few players around, and Jim from BIG also plays. I am hoping that interest peeks following my tournament in Feb which is nearly sold out.

There are quite a few lurkers.

For a new starter I would stear clear of Levy, he is very trick heavy and as he can summon so many models it's a big £ investment. Tara was a ltd edition gang and as such hasn't reached general release.

The Viks on the other hand are great fun to play. A lovely glass cannon of sorts. With these it might just be a case of waiting for shipments from the US.

If you want a demo at some point then let me know and I will try and find a free day

In theory I play but in reality I never manage to get out cos kids ruin your gaming time!

If anyone wants to borrow a crew to give the game a shot before investing in happy to make mine available.

I've spent the weekend reading the 2E rule book; love the fluff! It's really hard to chose a faction, let alone a master! I keep thinking 'ohh, that looks cool, I'll go for that' then reading the next bit and thinking, yep that's the one!

My current fav is Marcus, but that will probably change before I get to get to BIG tomorrow to actually pick up a starter set!

So, my question is what are other people using? I think I'd rather use something that is a bit left field!

They're built! Not too tricky apart from the Razorspine Rattler which was a complete pain the back side. But they're ready to go, anyone fancy a game one evening next week or Sunday?
