Mordheim

Postby Col. Frost » Fri Jul 10, 2015 2:36 pm

My 7 year old son William is getting into wargaming in a big way, having dipped into FOW and BA, he now wants to try his hand at something 'with swords and monsters and magic', so i though about Mordheim (ive been looking at playing for years, this is a good excuse!).

Couple of questions though, looking through my specialist games PDF, i have the rules already, but:

Are these the current played rules or is there a community ruleset (as with Epic)?

Are there rules for Lizardmen?

Is it played at The Duke / B.I.G.?

Thanks in advance!

Mordheim was one of the few Specialist Games that actually worked straight out of the box so there has never really been a need to alter the rules. As such there is no "Community Edition" like Necromunda. YakTribe has a strong Mordheim section (scroll down to near the bottom of the page):

http://gaming.yaktribe.org/community/

As does the Mordheimer website. You can find their Lizardman list under Main Menu - Warbands - Unofficial Warbands:

http://www.webring.org/l/rd?ring=mordhe ... r%2Ecom%2F

The list in my files for Lizardmn is one I nabbed from here:

http://www.hong-crewet.dk/Mordheim/Warb ... arband.pdf

I don't think we've ever played Mordheim at The Duke (even though I have a big box of Terrain for it I'm just about to give to Seb) but we did have plans to do a Warhammer Ahoy! last year run by Nick Maggs combining Mordheim with Pirates so I'm sure you'd find some willing victims ... I mean volunteers here, and probably at B.I.G. as well. Stu even built his boat for it!

Hope this helps.

Thanks CJ,

Now to read the rules ( unconventional approach, but I hear it helps) and start a few small games.

I'd be happy to join in with my Dwarves or Pirate Orcs and Goblins. I've never played before but I'm sure I'll pick it up reasonably quickly.

I actually have an Pirate Orc and Goblin Crew put together but that was done ages ago for 'Mordhiem Ahoy', a custom made Mordhiem Pirate game which never happened. It would need a little editing as a couple of my crew have skills called 'Gunner', which I assume don't exist in the original.

Stu, I've got about 4 copies of the Mordheim rulebook. I'll bring one over today.

I would love to get in on this. Can you have undead crew without a Vampire (and just have a Necromancer). Also, what's a good alternative to the Dregs miniatures? Any suggestions?

Ok forget the Undead. Now I want a Shadow Warriors warband. Would anyone object to using these rules: http://www.hong-crewet.dk/Mordheim/Warb ... rriors.pdf?

I thought they could have been sent from Ulthuan on a personal quest to seek out a very special Dark Elf who is hiding in the ruins of the crumbling city. I could (all players willing) create special rules that allow a Dark Elf to occasionally join an opposing warband with extra consequences for victory/defeat etc.

Going to order myself some plastic shadow warriors...(and so it begins)

Right then have ordered some Shadow Warriors. They should turn up next week. Have also made a list. It only consists of 6 warriors...500 gold doesn't go very far it seems when you're buying elfses.

I'd forgotten how much I loved Mordheim.

Two done! Four to go and then the starter band is done. I've gone for three spears and three bows so as to not be too beardy.
