Star Wars RPG

Postby Dead Metal » Thu Mar 27, 2014 12:18 am

In the posts that got accidentally deleted there were a few people interested in forming a group for a Star Wars: Edge of the Empire campaign.

Here's the link for information on the system http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite.asp?eidm=232

I would be GMing it, if you're interested sign up below.

I feel bad that the only Star Wars film I've seen is Episode I.

Is it going to be an issue if I don't know much about the universe, considering it's roleplaying? :L

I'd be very interested in this. What night were you thinking? I already play RPGs on a Monday so that night is out for me. I've not played this system but would love to learn... as long as it's more about roleplaying and not stat bumping/kill count.
Flames Of War: Soviets
Team Yankee (6mm and 15mm): Soviets
Bolt Action: Soviets
DUST: SSU aka Soviets (anyone spotted the theme yet?)
Star Wars Armada: Imperials (Space Soviets, a long, long time ago)
Epic Armageddon: Imperials (Space Soviets, in the grim, far future)
Frostgrave: Dwarves (Short Soviets)

I'm interested, but I don't want to over commit myself. Are you thinking this would be a regular weekly thing?

Merrick - It shouldn't be that much of a problem, although you may get yourself killed by saying the wrong thing to a Wookiee :D

Stu - Any day apart from Sunday is good for me (that's when my weekly RPG group meets). It's not all pew pew, but there's a fair amount of gunfighting. Although having said that I remember a couple of sessions in this campaign where my regular group barely fired a shot, and they're notoriously trigger happy.

CJ - It'll be up to the group to decide how often they want to do it, I've got my Sunday group to get my regular RPG fix so I'm happy to just do this when there's a demand for it.

My mate played a Wookiee medic and his "anesthetic" was applying a sleeper hold (to friend or foe).

Punch yourself, expunge episode one from your brain and immediately go and watch episode 4-6

1-3 were not bad, just made for another generation.

But yes, watch them in the proper order.

I was 8 when Episode I came out, to be fair. I barely remember it as it is.

Alright I reckon we've got enough interest in this to run it.

It would be cool if you could start thinking about what kind of character you want to play. The game will be set around the time Empire Strikes Back is happening, for anyone who knows the timeline well enough for that to matter. I usually like to run this game as "in universe" as possible, which I can just about do.

I'll be looking to run an intro session first of all, just for everyone to see if this is the system is for them, and if my GM'ing is up to scratch :D

I'll be bringing the rulebook along to boardgaming tonight for the people interested to have a look at, it would be good if everyone could get their hands on a PDF of the book as well (or buy it if you're particularly interested in the system)

For some reason I've got the image of a Wookiee poet as a character concept.

Where can I find the Edge of Empire PDF? Is the game the same as other Star Wars RPGs?

Dunno how Liam got his, but I got mine from a torrent site. I can leave the book on a shelf in the Duke games room tonight if you'd prefer, I don't actually need the book myself until the first session as I've got everything written already.

I was 10 when Star Wars came out just before summer recess and I watched it almost every other day during the holidays. Over 30 times during the 8 week break.

Last time I played Star Wars I ended up on the end of a 20' rope being dragged behind a Wookie piloted speeder bike thru the superstructure of a semi completed Death Star. Lesson learnt ?? LET THE WOOKIE WIN!

I will try and acquire a pdf to have a look, I guess in the setting pc's will not be Jedi? Best way to ruin the Star Wars setting is for everyone to have a light saber.

Quite the opposite, in fact there is a section of the rule book titled something like "running force sensitives in a campaign", rip it out/delete it/disregard it completely.

I've not got a PDF at the moment, but Liam might be able to sort out a Dropbox upload.

I've also left the book at the duke on the shelf near all the xwing stuff. If you want to take it away to look at you can, just post on this thread so I know it's gone.
