End of the Season

Postby pagan-gerbil » Sun Aug 03, 2014 3:30 pm

Since the fifth and final fixture is being played / has been played, what's the next step? I (probably) need to play off against the division two player to stay up, and was there going to be an Ultimate game to end the season? Or did I make that up?

Despite missing a game and losing all the others, this league has been a real blast so far :)

Jono and I had arranged to play this Sunday, but the X-wing tourney has booked all the tables. I'm free every night for the next week so Jono and me will play as soon as he's free, then I play Merrick as soon as afterwards.

Much as I'd like to (X-wing seems a cool game) I've got FAR too many projects on the go at the moment. Plus Halloween is nearly here. Maybe next year?

Can we make some sort of ruling for how scrapping teams and restarting is going to work with league promotion and possition. Stu Sam and I where chatting and from my scattered recolations we where very nervous about stopping people starting with a new team but equally cautious of putting a new mint team into a developed league format. Underdog bonus can only help you get so far. One suggestion was to have the COACH transfer to a new starting team but to carry over additionally purchased dice cards and coaches ie the backroom staff to the new team. Allowing a coach to transfer to a rookie team with all his dreadball smarts intact.
Basically the Woolwitch Armoury appers to have run out of funds and ability to do anything. Microwave might have been suggested

I suppose all "new" teams would drop into league 2? At least then they would have a chance at playing people on the same team value.

Well I was looking at scrapping my nameless and taking a ne team into div 1. After 1 season, I am bored of nameless. They are too easy to play and not very fun

That's where your back room staff come in. Starting team value of 100 plus additional cards dice and coaches for most of us our back room staff value is at least 20 mc gives a new team allowing for change in play styles but without fully nerfing team values. Liam is a good example he wants to retire his team grabs a new one but will still have a value of about 130-140. That's enough not to have massive underdog bonus and with the additional coaching dice allows for additional rolls on coaching table.
It's worth stressing that only additional purchases carry over initial team cards and dice are lost and gained with race/team change

Yeah, its starter with the view that brand new teams should start in div 2 but then quickly became well that's not fair in mist situations etc etc. We ended up with you can take your money to the new team (we didn't discuss coaches cards or dice) I think transferring your treasury cash into a new team is not a bad idea, its just if I play a rookie team game one I'm giving away 70-80mc in underdog, its ridiculous, also I think underdog bonus needs to be limited to a max of 2 cards & dice, i don't fancy facing someone with 10-12 extra coaching dice, that's stupid. Basically what this boils down to is the underdog rules as written suck balls & so we need rules in place to protect both the new & the levelled up team so both coaches can have fun.

Underdog is so S*** as written I think that its a compulsory change to the rules. It actually gives the underdog something useful as extra players when you already have 8 is so totally useless its ridiculous. Underdog & MVP rules in dreadball are the two things that let the game down for me.

Cool man, underdog is an issue area. If people are resetting they need to be a decent set of rules as I'm going to be giving away like 80mc!!!!

Give away 80mc then put 3 players in the dirt turn 1. A fair trade.

Starter teams have little chance of cracking 360 super guards.

to be honest only in 2 of my games have I killed more than 1 player, one game I think I even failed to cause ANY injuries, I've had hardly any 3 turn casualties, I'm not saying it isn't fair or anything, I'm saying allowing people 12 coaching dice extra is ridiculous & equally 8 freebooters does nothing for my opponent since he can only have 14 players max anyway & only 6 on the field at a time, the underdog rules as written are lame so some form of change needs to be made.

It worth pointing out that sams kilks against me where the result of all of my dice turning traitor. The lijelyhood of that happening again in such a spectacular fashion, is very very slim. A newb team can do it just as easily true its harder and more statitically unlikely but still doable.
Anyone can roll 5 6s just as easily as 5 1s

My kills were 3 first game, 4 last game, the other 3 games I got 2 in total I believe. As Tom said his dice committed suicide!

so when are we expecting to try & get this extreme game played?

Jono and I are now playing Sunday 17th at 12:00hrs as we couldn't get a table today due to the X-wing Tournament. Me and Merrick will then have our last game after that. I'm free every evening at the moment so it'll be as soon as possible.

The stupid bit about that CJ is that only 15 players turned up so there is now plenty of space lol

What a ball ache. Oh well, it's all arranged for next Sunday now.

On an aside I managed to find a Dreadball Referee miniature so no need to look for one for me.

Cheers Buddy.
