Planning the 24 hours

Postby Monk » Tue Jun 17, 2014 6:43 pm

Ok boys and girls. Myself and Stu have been talking about plans for the weekend. We are looking to run the following

Boardgamings evening, late night. Demos during Saturday of different games. Dust, Dead Mans hand, bolt action, malifaux, etc

To participate,it is the standard gaming charge of £2 however if you are staying longer then we ask you would be kind enough to make a larger payment. All money donated during the day will be donated straight to the macmillans just giving page next week.

Participation games, big games where people can jump in and jump out at ease.

If anyone is wanting to run something, can you post here or drop me a pm and we can work out tables and length etc.

Zombies! is a good game to drop in and out of. Instead of ending the game when someone "get(s) to the Choppa! they can be said to 'escape' and someone else takes their place. I'm happy to oversee it.

I'd be happy to run some 40k. Maybe get a 4 way of 1000 points each going at some point

My thinking was a large game using a few 'Massive ships' for fun/character/objectives. Anyone interested could then join in with small fleets (max 100pts each) and people could step in and out as they wished.

It needs a little more thought and planning but that was the rough idea.

DUST: SSU aka Soviets (anyone spotted the theme yet?)

Some sort of Epic Epic game would be awesome, like maybe 500 points a side on a 3x6, could have 2v2 with 250pts each.

That would be great but I'd also like people to be able to join in and leave as they want with smaller forces... even only a ship or two. Basically a big game with demo potential, if that makes sense.

I'd love to get some Apocalypse on the go. I have a lot of big toys that don't see much action...

I'd also be down for any of the other suggestions. I've not played any Twilight Imperium for ages. A weekend long gaming event like this one is perfect for a massive TI game.

If someone wants to run something. Can you let me know:
what it is, system, format, player numbers. is it Open to all and when you want to run it. Note to all not everything can be Saturday afternoon.

Myself and Stu can then start looking at what to do.

There will be demos going on for the following systems:

  • Malifaux
  • Dead Mans Hand
  • Bolt Action
  • Dust Tactics
  • Dreadball
  • Deadzone

I'm happy to run some Zombies! Board game (up to 6 people but works better with 4) and some Necromunda (2 players) at any time during the 24.

You may want to add X-Wing to that list.

I'd be happy to help with the final 5 listed above but can't commit to running anything while I have the festival to supervise.

I am dragging a couple of friends over from london for this. I assume the evening and early morning section will be casual (newb) friendly and mostly involve beer board games and sippy cups?

The whole day will be newb friendly :-)

I intend to have a load of demo sets at least assembled and hopefully painted. But year I imagine the early hours will be fairly laid back.

Initial post has a spreadsheet I will keep updating.

Could we please add Infinity to the list of demo games. Should have a pre-release copy of the new starter set with me all painted up. :)

A sad update fr WAAC.

Dave has been informed that his mum's cancer is terminal. Any and all money that people can give over the weekend will mean the world.

It will be great if we can have a brilliant busy 24 hours!

Are we going to have a "fine" for every 6 rolled? something small like a penny, or 5p?

I'd like to run some kill team if that's ok, I have the rules and maybe I can get some of that tasty terrain that's knocking around and use that, I'd only need a 4x4.

I'd like it to be a few hours so people can have a game, maybe just leave the board set up.
