Nice- though I'd be tempted to swap a re-roll for another few snotlings, 11 players for a starting team won't be enough...

That is the thing. A reroll now could be worth 3 snots, but later on it'll be worth 7. I want to stock up on them now while I can afford them. Snots are so cheap that I could buy easily 1 or 2, potentially even more, after each game.

A fair point :D but don't be too surprised if you're lining up for the second half of games with just your 5 ogres- your opponents will know the snots are the weak point, and will try and eliminate them accordingly. Although, as you pointed out, they're cheap enough to be easily replaced ;)

I pretty much just focus on the big guys! I use them for ball carriers, scorers, blitzers... Snots are just decoration. That, and ammunition

Just arranging it now. I finish work around 5ish and can get down to the club just after. So it'll either be around quarter past 5ish or an hour or two afterwards.

MATCHES PLAYED

Avalot played their first game yesteday... Ouch.

Avalot-du-Lues vs Claw Waste Venom 1-3 TD 2-5 CAS 2-0 RIP

The very first block of the game (and of the league!) saw one of the skilled peasant linemen bite the dust thanks to a Chaos Ogre getting rowdy. Claw Waste Venom scored on turn 6 after receiving, and Avalot couldn't equalise. They managed to scrape a TD within 2 turns of the second half, but with more and more of the team dropping like sacks of potatoes it wasn't hard for Claw to score twice more. A knight was also killed by the crowd, despite the apothecary trying to save him!

...needless to say, Avalot is definitely being retired this game and is going to be replaced with a newer, better bretonnian team! :D

Where are all the bretonnian players?

Ouch... but then Dave does that a lot to rookie teams. Just ask Eski what Dave did to his human team one year in game 1.

I'm planning to come down either Wednesday or Thursday next week, about 6pm. If anyone fancies playing my rookie Dark elf team, please say now!

I'm scared to ask! Maybe Dave has something against human teams?

I'll give you a game if you fancy. Avalot V.2 Will be waiting!

Cool, two rookie teams it is then. Wednesday about ten past 6 ok with you?

Are you going to change anything with your starting roster second time round? I.e. Roster more than 11 players, different no. Re-rolls? I only ask as keen to understand the Bret's more.

No, I'm going to keep the same. If they die miserably again, I might reconsider!

Avalot-Deux-Lues vs Eski's Norse | 2-1 TD | 3-3 CAS | 1-0 RIP

It was a great game! I received, and Steve's first action on his turn with his yeti caused a turnover, and with the help of some GFIs a plucky Knight managed to pinch a TD on turn 2. The naked vikings laid the pain down for the next 6 turns, repelling the Bretonnian defense for a TD on turn 8. A Norse got himself sent off, and another two were injured. Three Brets were out for the count too, so it was 9 people a side during the second half. I was constantly scared of getting crowd pushed as Steve had more players with frenzy than without. And as Steve put it, 'I'll find a way'.

The Norse received and tried to beat the snot out of their foppish opponents, but Nuffle wasn't granting him the Cas rolls. Brets play a risky no-defense game and ran most of their players around the sides, but it paid off and they managed to grab the ball after a lucky peasant catches a bounce. After some merciless stalling for the last 6 turns, the Brets score on turn 14, but not before some more injuries on both sides. A Norse Berserker dies in the melee, but no other injuries are permanent. More disgusting Norse fouling sees a 3rd Norse quite rightly sent off. A peasant very nearly pushed the Yeti off the pitch but failed miserably, and the yeti responded by fouling someone nearby.

As we set up turn 15 a riot happened and moved the clock to turn 16, and after some pummeling and turn 16 fouls from both teams (he told me too, honest), the game ended with a 2-1 win for the Brets.

--

A great game with a patient opponent! I'm still getting to grips with tabletop BB, so thanks Steve for being a great sport (and teacher!).

These Norse are utterly gorgeous. Gorgeously painted and modelled I mean, not because they're all men in pants. I think I need a sit down.

Some lucky disgusting peasant catches the ball. It'll have to be cleaned in time for a hand-off to a knight.

Another filthy villein almost crowd-pushes the yeti, but not quite. Surfed by a serf, anyone?

Just a few players sent off!

Avalot-Deux-Lues vs Nightwing's Undead | 3-1 TD | 1-2 CAS | 0-0 RIP

A relatively bloodless game, with no long term injuries (that weren't regenerated, anyway). It was 1-1 by the end of the first half, with the Undead team pulling off some spectacular elfiness to equalise on turn 8, despite Bretonnia getting a Blitz. If I remember rightly, a ghoul had to dodge out of a TZ, dodge into a TZ, pick up in a TZ and pass in a TZ, and the ball had to be caught by a Wight. All this with no rerolls! It was amazing.

During the second half the Undead couldn't catch a break. Whenever a ball was dropped for any reason, it seemed to bounce happily out of any caging they had crafted, ready to be snatched up by some plucky knight or other. The game ended 3-1.
