That last picture is genuinely concerning.

You're not gonna like what I've got planned for Halloween then...
I'll be the guy holding a cider and swearing at the dice.

In that case I'd highly suggest you change the lemon for an orange. Nutella and Lemon is nasty.

In other news, I'm picking the book up this evening, so by tomorrow I should be able to tell you why you're in prison/what the hell you're doing in the underdark so that should help with char creation.

I went with Sage as my background. I was thinking that he may have once been a lawyer (true evil), I'm not sure if this would help. Either he's at the prison representing someone or in prison for contempt of court (or something).

I'm probably in prison for crimes against Nutella and lemons.

Seriously though, I'll sort something out for my character at the weekend. I have a mini picked out for her(!) and everything. :D

I will probably be a rogue with a slight detour into warlock for some dark arts training.

Probably drow so keen to see what plot hooks / background options are in the book for locals.

Fighter is the pretty solid no fuss mele fighter.

Few specialties that can spice it up. Tabky / pole arm one is interesting. Lets you attack people who move in, knock them back, hit them with the but of the weapon etc.

I'd like something with a bit of finesse. Dual swords or something like that. Hack and slash never really appealed to me. Shield barge however ...

For a given definition of unkillable. Remember there's mind flayers in the underdark, psychic damage hooooo!

Best thing to represent something with finesse currently would be the dual wield battlemaster fighter. You get a limited number of points per rest to do cool stuff like lead enemies around, sidestep, etc.

So, there's not a huge amount of preamble.

Deep beneath the surface of the world lies the Underdark, a realm of endless labyrinthine tunnels and caverns where the sun never shines. The Underdark is filled with races and creatures too numerous to count or list, and foremost among these are the dark elves - the Drow. Hated and feared even by their fellow dwellers in the darkness, the drow raid other settlements in the Underdark as well as the surface world, taking prisoners back with them. Rendered unconscious with drow poison, then collared and shackled, these prisoners are eventually sold as slaves or entertainment in the dark elves' subterranean cities.

The adventurers have all had the misfortune of falling to such a fate. Captured by the drow, they are prisoners at one of the dark elves' outposts, awaiting transportation to Menzoberranzan, the City of Spiders. Whether they came into the Underdark seeking knowledge or fortune, or were just in the wrong place at the wrong time, they were ripe prey for a drow raid.

The setup of Out of the Abyss is such that the characters need have no connections with events in the underdark, or with each other, prior to the start of the adventure. They can meet and get to know each other as prisoners of the drow.

... do with that what you will

No, be anything you like. Those pesky drow could have kidnapped you from anywhere.

Are we using the same rpg grid I made? Looks like a few of us will get minatures for player characters. Welcome to my crap attempt to make monster tokens, probably need a couple of new dry wipe pens. They were dying towards the end.

Yeah the grid would probably be best, I'll attempt to find some good pens.
