CoC RPG

Postby Stu's Idle » Sun Jan 10, 2016 3:42 pm

A friend of mine, Tom, who most of you know, is planning to run a Star Wars RPG soon.
He was, and probably still will be, the person I was going to bring in to our group to replace Jake, when I eventually take over the D&D campaign. As I'm still some way off getting my head round it though it seemed like a good idea to start his campaign first.
While he has a couple of people who may be interested in joining I would prefer to keep our group together if possible. If people are around on Tuesday evening we could meet to do a little character creation or just discuss a few things. Otherwise we could organise most things on here. I think Tom was hoping to begin on the 19th (a week Tuesday).
What are people's thoughts/availability?

Hey Guys

The rumours are true. I would like to get the game running before too long. Anyone interested it would be great to meet up this Tuesday and do some early character planning and scope out what we all want from the game. The 19th would either be the proper start date or when we all finalise characters and maybe do a minor preamble into the game.

I understand that you guys have been playing together for a while so will give you first dibs on playing before I open it up. I think I have met you all before even just in passing.

Hi Tom,

I'd like to put my name in the hat of reserves for this if you're keen. I can't make tomorrow night but Tuesday nights at the Duke generally from next week to end of July should be easy for me.

I don't know many of the folks on the list very well but I like to think of myself as a generally amiable bloke and, although I haven't played a proper pen and pencil RPG since I was 16, would thoroughly welcome the chance to behave in the manner of scum and villainy/daring rebel heroes (delete as appropriate) in a galaxy far far away. :)

Cheers
Real Name: Chris Gough

Can play: Warhammer AOS, Batman Miniatures Game, AVP, Confrontation AoR
Interested in: Warzone Resurrection, Infinity

Hello,

I enjoyed the last round of star wars we did and would be keen to do another.

However I am away with work for all of Jan and feb is probably 50:50 whether i am in town on any given tuesday or not. After that it would not be a problem.

Short of skyping / facetiming in on tuesdays from my lonely hotel in wales I wouldnt be available for a few weeks

Hi,

I'm totally up for Star Wars.

Tuesdays are fine for me, and I can do tomorrow and next week easily enough.

I'll aim to be there for around 1830-1900 unless I hear something different.

Ok Tom. I've updated my first post summing up everyone's status... not that that was really needed, there's not much to read.
I'll let you decide how to proceed.

Awesome, glad to hear it guys. I will be at the duke around 7-8ish depending on how work stuff goes.

If everyone has a little think about characters they might like to play then we can make a team and maybe even start rolling some up.

Yes, it's still on. I'll be there at about 6pm, give or take.
Merrick can't make it this week so we won't be starting yet, just finishing off our characters.

So having chatted about the setting (escape from a hut) abd seeing the hired gun expansion book in excelsior i think i ma go down that route for my character.

I would be in the employ of the hut but switch sides for an unusualy low promise of future payment. Perhaps i have my own reasons for not hanging around...

I guess we need to sort out a rough idea of how we're all getting together.

I'm thinking I've been hanging around for a few months now, acting as the driver for a few jobs, maintaining and upgrading vehicles, that sort of thing, and have recently, erm, 'borrowed' the Hutt's brand new shiny speeder. Anyway, now the speeder's wrapped around a lamp post, and I'm suddenly feeling like this isn't the planet for me. So, I'll be very willing to act as a pilot for anyone planning on going far away, or maybe am already in the process of 'obtaining' a ship that nobody will miss that some unscrupulous fellow(s) could blackmail/ intimidate their way onto.

I figure this would give me a good chance to have met, and possibly worked with (whether as a driver on a job, or just maintaining vehicle/ equipment), anybody that's spent some time working for the Hutt.

Also, I've decided my guy's 19, so though he's a bright kid with some good talent, he's not that professional and may not always make the wisest choices, so may have easily gotten on someone's nerve by this point.

.
Likewise to Chris I'm young for a Chiss and working in my Uncles Trading business as a way of curtailing and reigning in some of my more Non-Chiss like tendencies. As such I've been supplying the Hutt with all manner of Off World goodies ... some of which are even legal.

Lately I've been trying to branch out on my own by "borrowing" some of my Uncles inventory and then replacing it before he knows it's gone. It's recently come to my attention however that the crate of Blast Rifles the Hutt was depending on ... wasn't .. quite .. as full of rifles as it should have been. The bottom layer turned out to be full of drugs my Uncle had earmarked for a very important and powerful customer.

Thus I feel that my continued presence on this Hutt planet will shortly be very bad for my health, as will returning to my own World.

As such I feel the need for a very sudden, and very prolonged holiday. Preferably ... in a galaxy far, far away.

I've been working for the Hutt for some time now. As a mercenary I joined for cash and adventure but recently have found myself standing around the palace playing bodyguard. I'm bored.

I was in the employ of a local mercenary/smuggler type guy who lost me to the Hutt in a game of chance. I was reprogrammed as their doctor (none of the thugs in his employ were particularly knowledgeable in these matters), in order to tend to his men. They botched the programming a little (again, not particularly smart), so while I am a competent medical droid, I do still have some of my old personality, memories and skills. As such, I am secretly plotting a way out of here, causing as much damage as possible in revenge, and trying to track down my old friend and employer.

Guns.
So far I think we have the following (please correct me if I'm wrong):
Me: Hired gun; ranged combat and leadership.
CJ: Assassin/smuggler(?); ranged and close combat.
Chris: Pilot/driver/navigator/mechanic
Merrick: Combat medic

We could probably do with a splicer but I'm sure we'll cope without. This is meant to be a thrown together group, not an organised expedition. A colse quarters tank might be good.

Ok, i always tend to do techy / hacky characters so i dont want that to be the main focus this time.

I will go for the demolition specialist i think. There is more than one way to open problem doors...

Sounds perfect to me. Why be subtle and quiet when you can blow the bloody doors off!
As we've proved frequently in previous games we don't really do well at stealth. Good to see we're coming to terms with this fact.

I've got a point in computers (which I assume is the splicing skill) and some reasonable intelligence, so I can cover that if needs be.

Have people used extra obligation to get stuff? As a party of 5 we start on 50. If we all boosted it for xp or cash things would quickly get.... Difficult.
