The Ebon Current - The story so far...

Postby Trumpkin » Fri Oct 17, 2014 4:24 pm

Inquisitor Aurea Pugnatious of the Ordo Hereticus has been active in the Ebon Current sector of the Jericho reach for nearly 40 terran years. He has dedicated most of those in the tracing of the so called Cult of the Blood Harvest, purported to have been responsible for the Baneside Massacre of 944.M41, and the following Exterminatus of the Bane sector 4 years later. It was Pugnatious himself that had ordered that Exterminatus, having been repelled 3 times by the surprisingly formidable Cult and their dark allies. The local fleets in ruins and his pride shattered, Pugnatious had seen no other alternative, and thus a valuable Foundry system had met its piteous end.

Decades after that incident, the blood-stained hand has been seen again, this time in the agri-world of Medea and its surrounding neighbours. After years of frustrating and fruitless searching by the Inquisition, the Followers of the Blood Harvest have resurfaced, this time with larger numbers and more terrifying allies. Astropaths have been dying of horrific seizures caused by rampaging Warp eddies, and huge rifts have been reported in the Immaterium. Somehow, the Cult has survived, and this time, they are angry…

News of the insurgence spread quickly through the sector, and several notable and powerful figures of the Imperium have resolved to repel the invaders. The largest force of Imperial soliders the Ebon Current sector has even seen has begun massing. Wolf Lords Harold Deathwolf and Varag Three-Clawed were the first to rally to the defence of the Ebon Sector, marshalling their formidable companies of Space Wolves behind them. Several separate other chapters of Space Marines have answered the call, led by the terrifying Chaplain Barry and fierce Captain Seneca.

Determined not to let another system fall foul of corruption, Pugnatious has used his considerable Inquisitorial influence to corral a mighty force of Astra Militarum from surrounding sectors, and has even succeeded in garnering support from the formidable Officio Assassinorum. Brigadier Isadore Breckenridge-Defoe has publicly denounced the invasion, and has set personally placed himself in the thick of the danger, quoted as saying "the Adeptus Astartes, Emperor bless them, are not the only defense mankind has to offer!".

The Fate of the Ebon Sector rests in the hands of the brave men and women of the Imperium, and the billions of lives, not to mention the invaluable supply lines stemming from Medea and its sisters, hang in the balance…

Kor'Kor'Max, Goremaster of the Blood Harvest remembers the day he sold his soul. He remembers slicing his arm at the elbow, and he remembers the feeling of the Gods blessing him. He remembers marshalling barely a handful of followers, convincing them of the true path. He remembers how the numbers grew, and how his group became a throng, and his throng became a legion. He remembers the dreams Khorne bestowed on him, about the Baneside system. Oh the rewards he was promised! And for years afterwards, Kor'Kor'Max and his valued men and women insidiously influenced the rulers of that system, little by little, their pernicious ambition corrupting the Foundry world from within.

When the time came to strike, the system fell like an overripe melon. The corruption spread like a wind, and the entire system was his. The pitiful Imperium threw themselves on his iron walls, but Kor'Kor'Max repelled them easily. With access to the esoteric technology offered by the Baneside system, Kor'Kor'Max's influence swelled, and so did his power. Soon he found himself meeting and commanding corrupt Astartes. None was above Kor'Kor'Max, save his gods, of course.

Kor'Kor'Max remembers the Thousand Sons sorcerer and his warning. The Imperium, he said, was going to utterly destroy the system. They had decided that they could not best him, and so would raze his planets to the ground. His rage had been terrible, but he could sense the truth in the reading. He had gathered those he deemed worthy and retreated into to warp mere days before the Baneside system was obliterated.

It has been years since that shameful event, but the Gods still bless Kor'Kor'Max. He has remained diligent, spreading his influence across many systems in many sectors. He remembers the day he was given a new vision by those he reveres. Another system, this time an agri world. They entrusted him with the power he had never known, and within a few short years he was ready to make his move.

In revenge, Kor'Kor'Max has marshalled an immense force of notorious figures. Lord Vitaus the Corrupted, Blessed of Nurgle, has agreed to help him, and the mysterious traitor Inquisitor Sven and his ex-Imperial forces are assisting for their own reasons. The powerful Chaos Sorcerer McSlavverin has appeared at the head of a force of fallen Space Marines, and is ready to murder his former brothers in arms.

Even now, his immense forces ready to strike, Kor'Kor'Max remembers the reason why he had failed, all those years ago. He remembers the rage, the fury. He remembers the desire to vengeance, a vengeance made possible by the Gods themselves. He remembers a name.

Pugnatious.

Farseer Feydritch Eluthien has visions ever since he was able to think. His visions have saved his life, and the lives of his kin, countless times. Eluthien had been visited by a dream of great evil that must be stopped, converging on the El'Thue'n sector. Craftworld Eol’mer was close, and if this evil was left to spread then the Craftworld’s days are numbered. With permission from the Elders of A, Iyri has rallied an army of elite Eldar to clear the system of evil. None who resided in such a place were to be spared. For the good of the Eldar race, the system must die.

Whatever he finds there he will kill. Mon’keigh, Ill’Mureea, anything. It would die to ensure the continued life of the Craftworld, or he would die trying.
