Vanguard Battle mission w/c 15th Dec

Postby Stuart » Wed Dec 10, 2014 8:08 pm

A challenge to chaos/traitor/xenos opponents...
Would like to play the "Vanguard" Space Marine scenario from Battle Missions book for Turn 2 game.
As it was written for 5th Ed (I believe) would like to retro armies so it still works, so no fliers or fortifications.
Each of the 3 objectives used in the game will be worth 2 VPs, with VPs available for Slay Warlord and First Blood (Linebreaker makes no sense in this game as it's the whole point of the mission and dictates where the markers are).
If keen or want more details let me know. Can play Monday, Wednesday or Thursday.

My Death Guard were (and still are) pretty much a 5th ed list.

Can give you a game Monday - needs to be reasonably early as would have to be finished by 9 though.

So playing this one with Marcus on Thursday, need some ideas for repercussions for losing/ winning.
Missions details are:
Table split lengthways into two, chaos deploy anywhere in their half. One objective slap-bang in the middle of table, another in the middle of chaos table-edge. Third objective marker anywhere in chaos area after deployment 12" from any other.
Space Marines do not deploy, get first turn and enter from their table edge.
Reserves are allowed.
Retro-fitting rules: no fliers or fortifications. VPs for First Blood and Slay Warlord, nothing for Linebreaker. Obj are worth 2 VPs each.
If SM army is battleforged, all infantry units benefit from obj secured, as well as troops (seems like a fair up-dating of "Vanguard" rule).
For repercussions was thinking if SM win then chaos players must place D4 random Heavy units into reserve (carrying over into Elites if not enough), if Chaos win SM have the same for Fast carrying into elites.
Does this seem reasonable/ enough?

Well all did not go according to plan.....

Got off a quick shot on the phone hence the naffness.

Battle was pretty tense ... or so it seemed to me, perhaps Marcus had it all under control and was biding his time.

5 - 1 victory to Chaos, my Chaplain rolled enfeebled (-1 strength) and Marcus got Master of Blades (+2 WS). That is now one beast of a Chaos Lord.
