Infinity Escalation League - January

Postby Vyper » Wed Nov 05, 2014 8:21 am

Hi all,

With N3 not much more than a month away now I think there will be no better time than to do an Escalation League. It'll be a great chance to get started with your faction and get acquainted with the new edition. I know I'll be using it as an excuse to get a second faction painted up. Ideally I'd like it to culminate in a small 300 point game day held over at BIG where we can invite people from the other Bristol/Bath clubs (BBU, Lincombe Barn, Apocalypse, Pigmar) to join us.

I'd be planning for the League to start at 120 points - roughly the value of a starter box - and eventually go up to 300 points, which is the default game size and have players play at least one game a fortnight.

We'll try and have some soft scores worked in as well, getting stuff painted, completing achievements and so on - details to be announced. :)

Let me know if this is the sort of thing you'd like to be involved in. :)

The guys at pigmar are planning something similar maybe you could coordinate with them also (not sure what the current Infinity footprint is at BV but seems pretty quite at the moment).

What are the options in terms of location? Stu is pushing for BIG but he said the Duke will be kept available for the foreseeable future.

I'd like to keep doing it at the Duke as that is definitely going to be my 'local'. BIG is just too far out of town for me to be practical on a regular basis.

I've already been chatting to the Pigmar crowd (and been helping them plan, of course) and was hoping to run a Vanguard event parallel to theirs. :)

I'd be up for this.

You going to make any demands on the general state of models/ paint?

No demands, just suggestions, we'll have soft scores or prizes for having stuff painted, but it won't be compulsary at all. :)

The plan is to start mid-January, once 3rd edition has been released and the Christmas holidays are over. :)

If this starts in January I might look at trying this out with the models I have. Still have no idea how the game plays though lol

Quite interested in the Nomads. Having looked at a few of the additional models I quite like the tomcats and hellcats. Anyway we'll have to see, need to crack on with the icestorm contents.

I know fallout-daemon is wanting someone to split a box with (he's after the PanO models). I don't know if you'd be interested in that? :)

Fallout_daemon, already split the box with a friend. Sorry :-s on a positive note this league sounds great. Are people looking at a particular weeknight for this or are we looking at organising the games at our own convienance?

I'm planning to be down regularly, probably on Thursdays, to play some games, chat and do league stuff. But people are welcome to organise their games at their own convenience at either the Duke or BIG (or indeed anywhere else they might like to play). :)

Is it just an impression or is there a decline of the gaming activity at the Duke?

I think we should stick to the Duke if possible, but B.I.G is much nearer to me so if someone find it more convenient I am happy to play there.

There is a decline. Stu said at the AGM that he wants people to use BIG where possible to help support the local store.

I'd like to use BIG, but in terms of practicality the Duke is much, much easier for me.

Fair enough but my concern is that in such a big venue we are going to have a C&T effect on the club all over again. Since we moved to the Duke the club has really flourished.
