Just read this on the War of Sigmar blog.

via mikhaila, dakka, from his/her sales rep:

"Just got off the phone with GW. They are pushing this hard and calling it Warhammer Quest.

Supposedly....(sales rep info here, grain of salt) WQ will be a new line alongside 40k and AOS. More hero boxes, rules for using models from AOS, etc.

Of course, i'm being told this while they try to sell me a ton of copies"

We also know there will be an app for new heroes rules. Making an intro/crossover game for AoS is actually something that worked in the past, so this is a good thing. Alongside 40k (with 30k as spin-off line), and Specialist Games/Middle-Earth, the future is indeed bright.

As usual, take it with a bit of salt.

What do you think about this?

regards,
Lady Atia and Bob
I hope this is true!

Does anyone know if this is pure co-op yet? I saw something on BOLS suggesting it is for 2-4 players. Pure co-op was the best thing about the original in my humble opinion.

summer campaign

-taking place in realm of life
-your battle results will be logged at a GW Web Station (the computer you order from when at a GW Store) to prevent skewing results like Eye of Terror did
-it will shape the setting when they write up future campaign books

general's handbook

-units have a model count cap (max 10 models, or 20 models, etc. depends on the unit)
-you can only add models in "groups" (no points for individual models. example: add 5 liberators to your unit for X points)
-book will contain points for all models, and they'll be included in battletomes going forward (i don't know if it's definitive, i couldn't tell if he assumed that was what's going to happen or if he was told by studio guys)
-army organization is a mix of force org from 40k and the point-tiers from fantasy. for every X points in a game, you can have up to Y heros/wizards/monsters, etc.
-in Match Play, there's the "Rule of 1s", in that 1s always fail, limit named characters to 1 per army, and units you summoned cannot summon other units that turn
-weapon upgrades in units won't cost additional points.
-some missions in the book that are styled like LotR games, where you recreate a major battle with each player bringing an army determined by the rules, and such missions will be included in battletomes.
-narrative will have a lot of cool stuff to add to your games. magic items for your heroes to wield, new Path of Glory for all armies, new missions to run, etc.

future models

-in the general's handbook, there looks to be new sylvaneth models shown. i would take this with a grain of salt, as they could be very well done conversions, but from what i heard, there are models of aelfs whose limbs are turning into branches and plants, and new updated treemen (not treelords, the treemen who are bigger than branchwraiths but smaller than treelords)
-concept art shown of allariel riding what looks to be a giant rhino beetle? sounds interesting, possible future model? only time will tell
-Slaanesh is not dead. Models are supposedly finished and they're waiting to get things ready (box art, artwork for future books, production, finding a time to include in the story, etc.) studios rarely release models the second they are done, there's a lot of prep work behind the scenes.

sales numbers

-. AoS is now roughly 30% of sales. 40k is still outperforming by a large margin, but AoS numbers are healthy. what to take away from this is that AoS will continue forward, it's here to stay, there's no plans to go backwards on it.

AoS:
- They admit they have done errors with the AoS launch. They want to improve, and listen to feedback.
- They are really motivated and already have new story arcs for the next 4-5 years.
- Sylvaneth will get their battletome. Alarielle's beetle looks soooo cute.
- Summer will focuse on the Realm of Life.
- Sylvaneth, Slaanesh, Tzeentch, Aelfs, Skaven, ... there is so much cool stuff to come!
- Forgeworld will support AoS, 40k and 30k. New Fimir character done.
- The Khorne dragon is done, will get a lord as rider. Rivals Smaug!!
- They want to give Chaos Dwarfs and Fimir a new spin and place in AoS.
- More AoS Character series stuff one the way!
- Warhammer Quest is supposed to get future support, even more if it sells well.
- From what I heard, people really really enjoyed the game there.

The AoS rule book with points will have official 6 scenarios, points for everything, including Tomb Kings etc. It will cost 20 euros and is huge. It's coming out end of June or July.

- Alarielle is not on a giant beetle, she's flying above it. She's huge, Nagash's size.

- A new set of collecting boxes are coming for AoS: Around 20 euros for a "ready to play" set.

Anyone still hyped about Tzeentch? Yes? Great. Here some snippets to avoid all possible confusions:

- Forgeworld will do the Prospero Magnus. In resin. Around Fall, for the Inferno release (as I think Russ may be ready for sale for the next Open Day). There are no "problems", Simon Egan just was afraid of both the horns on his chest and his face. He will be the largest Primarch. And of course FW will continue to produce the 30k Primarchs.
- GW will use the Daemon Primarchs for their ongoing storyline. Because that's the things that "are more interesting". You can use them for both 30k and 40k games, more people buy plastic models than resin. Magnus is finished. But please don't expect all 5/6 Daemon Primarchs tomorrow lol.
- GW already did them (Angron, Mortarion, Magnus and Fulgrim) in EPIC. They all work as large focus models for their respective Cults.
- I wouldn't expect this stuff before the Summer is over. Relax, enjoy your Sylvaneth and play some games using your Handbook.
- Tzeentch Arcanites, Thousand Sons, Daemons of Tzeentch. #YearOfTzeentch (btw, don't take the year as year but more as ~12 months lol). Also, these aren't next in line, so again, don't expect this tomorrow ...
Last but not least, a quote from Sad Panda that summs it quite up
"Remember it is still a few months out, especially the 40K stuff.
There are a lot of things in the pipeline before it. Deathwatch for example."
So, let's chill and enjoy our summer =)

Lady Atia

“All units have an assigned role.
Leader, Battleline, Behemoth, Artillery, no role.
Depending on points you play you are required/limited on number of units of each type you can take. Lets say we play 1000pts battle.
In that case you are required to take
2+ Battleline units
1-4 Leaders
0-2 Behemoths
0-2 Artillery
Any number of no role units

Some units have both types so they take up both slots at once.
Some units can become battleline if you take specific leader

Somehow I missed the part about summoning while taking photos but as far as I remember it works along the lines:
We play 1000 pts battle
You can decide to spent any of those points on summoning. So lets say you take 700 points on field and 300 points are “held in reserve: as summoning.
You summon any unit within said 300 points limit later in game. Points are used for summon so no recycling.

Armies build entirely of one Alliance are given extra rule. Generals can take 1 extra ability out of 6 predefined ones. Also there are 6 artefacts that can be taken by heroes at no additional cost.

Each alliance has its own set of
1 Battle Trait
6 Command Traits for your general
6 Artefacts that “any (non-unique) hero can be given one…”

Battle traits are
Death: For each wount or mortal wound suffered by DEATH unit within your army that is within 10″ of your General or another Hero from your army, roll a die. On a 6 or more the wound is negated.
Destruction: Roll a dice in your hero phase for each unit from your army that is within 6″ of General or another Hero from your army. The unit can move a number of inches equal to the dice roll, as if it were movement phase, but cannot run. This does not affect their ability to move again later in the turn.

Chaos: Roll a dice when you pick a Chaos unit to attack in combat that is within 8″ of general or other your hero. On a roll of 6 you can add 1 to all hit rolls for the unit in that phase.
Order: You can re-roll battleshock tests (in battleshock phase) for friendly Order units that are within 12″ of general or other hero in your army.

(order artifacts. chose one, no roll)

1. Attack in combat before anyone else (one use potion)
2. Improve Rend by 1, not for mounts
3. +1 Damage for one weapon
4. -1 to To Hit for enemies you wounded (for rest of battle)
5. Once per battle -1 to Hit for all enemies agains model with this artefact
6. Heal 1 wound in each of your hero phases. “

Follow-up Post

“Points costs getting leaked:

” Prime 360
Judicators 160pts per 5
Liberators 100pts per 5
vexillor 200pts
heraldor 120pts
venator 120pts
Celestant /on dracoth 100/220
Prosecutors hammers/javelins 100/80pts per 3models
Retributors 220 per 5
Stardrake 500/600pts
Drake cav 240pts per 2 models with concussors as exception at 280

Nagash is 900
Archaon is 700

Arielle is 620

New unit names are Tree Revenants and one other type of Revenants 100 pts/5 both
and Kurnoth Hunters (or something like that) 180pts/3

Kairos 300
Lord of Change 260
Great Unclean 240
Skarbrand 400
Bloodthirsters 280-360 depending on version
Verminlord 300
Keeper of Secrets 280″

NO POINTS or battlefield roles for any forge world units in the book.”

In addition to these points the following pic of some new rules were also spotted:

says:

Ive had this for a little while but am only just allowed to share it.

I have a full review coming soon but in the mean time feel feel free to ask me anything.

2 caveats.

1. Release date is ‘Soon’

2. I’m not going to look up and list every point value!

There’s some new unit names lists.

Sylvaneth, Bone Splitterz and Beastclaw Raiders.

There are 3 main campaign types.

Path to glory, Map, matrix and ladder.

PTG is a narrative army building campaign with ability upgrades and a race to most glory points

Map show how to play for area with location bonus in games.

Matrix is similar to the old iPad/digital campaign sets where 1 game effects the next.

Ladder is like a tournament style league system.

It’s 169 pages.

No such thing as relics.

There are Artifacts and comment traits to go with Allegiance abilities.

Some cool old hammer throwbacks here! Chaos Runeblade, talisman of protection, clook of mist and shadows and cursed book. And lots more.

Points structure is similar to clash/SCGT. You buy a unit of models. You can duplicate them up to a max size per unit.

e.g. Judicators are 160 points for 5

Your unit size can be 5 to 20.

So you pay 160 for 1-5

320 for 6-10 and so on

if you only had 7 Judicators you can still field them but would pay for 6-10

There’s a really cool house rule section that basically says you can use this book as a guide and do what you like with is.

Tournaments make tweek things or your own gaming group may prefer to introduce own house rules.

They site measuring to bases as one of these.

Army builds are similar to SCGT but you have restrictions on unit types.

At 2000 points.

1-6 leaders

3+ battleline

max 4 of each artillery and behemoths.

Some units are only battleline if whole army is in a single faction.

max 4 of each artillery and behemoths.

Some units are only battleline if whole army is in a single faction.

Once you have 1 leader and 3 battle line you can spend anything anywhere (so no max 50% style limits like in 8th)

Summoning.

set aside xxx points at the start.

Spend these on units you add during the game via summoning or similar.

Flesheater courts style reinforce units is free. But can’t exceed starting side.

You don’t need to declare your ‘summoning pool’ SCGT style.

Only formations in GA books and Battletomes seem to have points.
