AoS and bases.

Postby Zolas » Sun Jul 17, 2016 7:15 am

Hello Guys.

So since the arrival of AoS I have pretty much benched my Ogres/Ogors and been dabbling in 40K for a bit while I figured out what direction I wanted to go with my Ogres.

So things have settle down and it looks like AoS is getting underway with some promising updates and releases.

My question is how have people been going about the whole round base thing? Are people still using square bases? Are you re-basing completely? Or are there there other ways around the issue.

I ask this because as a painter/builder of models I tend to be slow/lack of time, and the whole re-basing thing is rather daunting. But AoS does appeal to me. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Kind regards Zolas (Tony)

I cant think of many situations where a square base would make a difference on gameplay.

Its a measuren to the model system, the rules actually say bases are just there to make models stand up.

If you are happy with squares maybee stick with that?

It depends on how you want to play. If you plan on playing on game nights the majority of people will be fine with you using squares. If you are planning on playing in the upcoming campaigns and joining the tournament scene you will need to rebase. Different size bases allow more or less models to contact in the pile in phase which in AoS is important. Competitive play is going to be updated to say that you measure base to base.

It has been third Tuesday of each month recently I think. We have a WhatsApp group that's updated with all the info which also allows you to organise your game in advance or pick up a casual game. Let me know if you want to get added.
