Stu has kindly provoded a copy of both the Frostgrave Rulebook, and the Thaw of the Lich Lord campaign book at The Old Duke if anyone wants to read up on stuff but doesn't yet have the rulebook. It's on the shelf by the door, just to the left of the money shelf.

(for some reason, my auto correct changed that last bit to "Money Shot" ... time to clean out my browser history again!)

There is now a new thread up for the start of the Frostgrave campaign, Thaw of the Lich Lord.

viewtopic.php?f=52&t=3552

Let me have any feedback, proposal or changes before we start, otherwise it's all kicking off from the beginning of next month.

I'd be happy to give you a game some time.
Flames Of War: Soviets
Team Yankee (6mm and 15mm): Soviets
Bolt Action: Soviets
DUST: SSU aka Soviets (anyone spotted the theme yet?)
Star Wars Armada: Imperials (Space Soviets, a long, long time ago)
Epic Armageddon: Imperials (Space Soviets, in the grim, far future)
Frostgrave: Dwarves (Short Soviets)

I've only got the base rulebook, will I need to pick up the expansion to have the scenarios for the campaign?

No, we have a copy of the expansion at the Duke which everyone is welcome to use.

The only other reason to get it are the new soldiers and spells listed.

The Soldiers, while interesting, will not give anyone a real advantage over someone without them. Having said that I would recommend having a little look at them in the book at the Duke when you're here.

They are:
Bard : gives +1 to friends within 6" on their Will rolls, not worth the 100gc cost.

Crow Master
: allows you to fly a crow about and attack people with it. Looks fun but the crow only has 1HP, although you do get another after the game if it dies. It also requires a base with a 'Crow Roost' so you won't be starting with this guy.

Javelineer: Fairly cheap, fast moving, not much good in combat but can throw the javelins 10" so gives you an additional ranged option.

Pack Mule: Can carry 3 items. Only really good if you use potions I'd have thought.

The spells are also interesting but not game breaking. There are three spells:

Homunculus (Witch/14/Out of Game): Basically means that if your wizard dies he comes back, but reduces your health (permanently) and has other penalties... not worth it at low levels.

Lichdom (Necromancer/20/Out of Game): Turns your wizard into a Lich. Has some interesting effects but bad penalties for miscasting. Again probably of little interest at low levels.

Revenant (Necromancer/14/Out of Game): Basically allows you to raise a soldier who has died in the game as undead. This soldier has the same stats and equipment as before, except Will which becomes 0. Quite a good spell for saving cash/fluff but unlikely to be one you'd start the game with (IMO).
