.
I'm also free this Tuesday (apparently it's a Bank Holiday weekend, whatever that is?) so if anyone else wants a game I'd be up for that, or just watching Chris and Stu's Warbands wounding each other.

Me and jake played the first game and I have to say it's brutal. As usual jake has researched the best list;-) and the ability to move treasure is underestimated! As is the ability to one shot things!

Flipping brutal to be honest.

Did you play the first 2 campaign games, and if so was it a 1-1 or a 2-0 set games? And how did the Experience/Treasure rolls go after the game?

One shooting can happen, and can be bloody ... but then so can blowing your own Wizards head off. = )
I'd be glad to hear you're overall impression of the game.

Yeah we only played and intro game (In which Dan killed nearly all my guys) and then the first game of the campaign.

Using Telekinesis on the middle treasure is pretty powerful, meant Dan had to keep leaping guys in front of me to stop me getting off the board.

Dan's wizard was shot by mine due to playing him a little too far forward.

My xp spends and treasures detailed below.

Got 460xp total
Level 1 +1 Fight
Level 2 +1 Health
Level 3 + 1 to cast Draining Word
Level 4 +1 to cast Telekinesis.

Purchase price of magic items in brackets
Roll 1 - 40g and a +2 Damage Dagger (300g)
Roll 2 - 30g and 2x Potions of toughness (50gx2) and a Potion of invisibility (100g)
Roll 3 - 50g and Elixir of Speed (50g), potion of Healing (50g)
Roll 4 - 30g and Potion of Strength (50g) and 2x Potion of invulnerability(2x100g)

150g total
15g to my captain
10g to rebuy a dog that got killed in the match.

Down to 125g

850g worth of treasure sold for 425g

550g Total

Bought a ring of power and orb of power for my wizard for 550g

One thing that came up was can Dan buy a normal dagger for his wizard for the 5g price he could have done in character creation or does he have to buy a magic dagger?

FAO Stu:

Sorry but I'm going to have to pull out of game tonight due to an unseemly cold (man-flu). Can we re-schedule when I'm less infectious?
(Have also sent you a PM).

Sorry

Thanks to Stu and CJ for the game last night. Frostgrave is awesome. Really interesting and more tactical than I was expecting. Despite getting shot to bits by eagle-eyed crossbow wielding Dwarves, my warband actually came away fairly unscathed. Looking forward to mission 2 on the frozen river.

The crossbows did prove quite deadly but I had a very lucky game. When 10 of the 13 spells you try actually cast you know it'll be a good day.
Other than the poor thug my construct trod on everyone else was survived, which is a great result for the opening game.

That's a shame mate. Anyway SAGA is a great game. I need to get my Norse finished for that as well.

Level 4: empower Decay
Level 5: empower Leap
Level 6: empower Elemental Bolt

Loot 1: 60g grimoire mind control (duplicate sell 250g)
Loot 2: 50g potions strength + invis (sell for 75g total)
Loot 3: 20g + grimoire plague of insects

Establish Base: Laboratory

-14g for Captain
-5g to buy carrier pigeon upgrade for base
-9g to replace dog
-300g to buy Ring of Teleportaion

A very good game against Josh. I played FAR too aggressively with my Wizard ending up on Josh' side of the table 12" away from his Archers, whilst my Apprentice ended up on Josh's table edge having fought 2 Hand to Hand combats.

A very good use of spells from Josh saw the building my Wizard was using as cover Crumbling away leaving him exposed to Josh's Archers who took him out (fortunately he survived unharmed) but denying me the massive +6 to cast a spell and 50XP during the eclipse. Also because I was reduced to 0 wounds I could not cast Absorb Knowledge out of game at the end, so I missed out on a level of XP. He also destroyed my Captains' bow just as I got into position to shoot his Wizard.

The Treasure rolls were kinder to me as I found 620 gold in the chests (of which my Captain demanded 68 gold for his services) and I also got an Orb of Power (8)

I managed to come away with 380XP so my Post Game looked like this:

Level 2: Fight + 1
Level 3: Empower Leap
Level 4: Empower Absorb Knowledge

Loot roll 1: 10 - 20 gold and a Magic Item: 5 - Orb of Power (8)
Loot roll 2: 3 - D20 (16) x 25 gold = 400 gold
Loot roll 3: 2 - D20 (10) x 20 gold = 200 gold

Captains fee: 68 gold (11 % of 620)
Captains XP: 20

Treasury: 562 gold (I had 10 gold left over as I only spent 490 on my starting war band)

Establish Base: Inn

Build a Kennel: 250 gold
Buy a Treasure Hunter: 80 gold
Buy a Treasure Hunter: 80 gold
Buy a new Bow for my Captain: 5 gold
Buy a Crossbow for my Captain: 5 gold

Leaves 142g in the Treasury
EDIT: I forgot I'd equipped my Wizard and Apprentice with Sword and Dagger (+1 Fight in Combat) for 5 gold each so I spent all 500 gold in my starting Warband.
Amended to 132 gold in the Treasury

Shiny ... 5 cg's more for the Vault!

You'll notice I equipped him with a Crossbow now too for the next time we meet. Sword, Dagger, Leather Armour, Bow and Crossbow is his 5 slots filled up but he'll at least get a shot off at that pesky Wizard next time!
