Forge World Airbrush Paints

Postby ObviousPlayer » Mon Apr 04, 2016 2:52 pm

Hello folks,

Does anyone know what the Forge World Clear Airbrush paints are for? What's special about the "clear" bit.

I ask because I quite like GW's four glazes but would love to find some other colours (like purples, pinks and browns) to use on skin tones and I was wondering whether these clear paints could serve that purpose. I have used the washes but they seem to run very differently to the glazes which makes me thing they're comprised of something else.

Would welcome any advice.

Thanks (in advance)

I believe Forgeworld's clear range are similar to Tamiya's clear paints. Rather than providing a wash effect, they simply go down as a transparent, gloss paint layer. This is useful for going over preshaded work to provide the colour, over silvers to make metallic colours with really good depth or for changing the colour on transparent pieces, eg aircraft canopies. Hope that helps!
