ok, due to unavoidable life events and the website playing up, the Shockers and Sindarin were unable to get there fixture played. The heads of the league have decided that, as this was no failure on any specific person, that the result is to be a draw.

0-0

With no cheers or kills.

That is all.

Hey all. We are technically at the end of the league. I have updated the table with all the results. We are 1 game short though. So before I publish the final standings and winners, I need to work out what happened to that game.

I haven't seen any results for Game 8:
Jamrowski - Grim Bay Packers VS Maahes - Philaname Eagles

Can you guys let me know what's happening there please?

Pretty sure Jono said it was a forfeit to him as Curtis couldn't make it. He certainly didn't have any dead Dwarves when I played him Friday.

Although if you want to make it a draw ... there's a suitcase with several thousand megacredit's I found down the back of the sofa that COULD have your name on it ??? ;) ;)

.
Not sure who's been following what on the Dreadball scene, but just had this come thru from Mantic, and 1 item has me a little concerned: Item 2

From Adam Laughton

I am excited about this, but have few "concern questions..." (1) Will you be upgrading to d8? Please! Gives more spread for teams... (2) Can we use all our old teams in v.2 without any extra purchases? (3) Will you be streamlining cards? (Command dice like DZ seem like an option to consider?) (4) Will you be taking your time on beta testing of teams, before printing?

1) We will not be upgrading to D8, though we recognize the need to ‘give more spread’ to the teams. We are testing a system for this and will let you all know how it goes.
2) No, you’ll need the rules and the stats for your team for a start!
3) The cards will not be replaced but they will be made more interesting.
4) Yep! We’ve got a group of passionate DB players behind this game and lots of playtesting is planned. We hope that the community will help with this as well.

They are S*** at FAQs.

The core rules will be available for free somewhere (probably Mantic Digital).

The team rules will be available in both A Book (not sure which one yet, but one book will have all teams) and The Box You Bought Your Team In. I have a feeling (can't find the source now) that there will be downloadable versions for first edition players, but that's unconfirmed at the mo. Look at Kings of War - most of the army lists are available for that game for free, it's just the bells and whistles (what we might equate to coaches and cheerleaders) that are only in books.

Hey, Jamrowski, Maahes, did you guys get my message? Can you confirm your match results for me? Was it a forfeit?

Thanks.

I just assumed it was all over, and the final results were still as the League Board suggests?

I was very pleased with my finishing position, especially considering I spent over half the time with my Team Rating below 100.

Sorry for the wait all. I have decided to award a 0-0 draw for the game I have no info for. This means there has been no real change to the league table and the final standings are now set.

So, without further ado... Here are the awards!

Dreadball League Champion 2016:
Da Pirates

Bloodiest Player 2016:
Philaname Eagles

Crowd Pleaser 2016:
Da Pirates

Wooden Spoon 2016:
The Shell Shockers

Congrats to everyone who won titles. I hope everyone enjoyed the league.

Yes, congrats to all concerned. I enjoyed it, and I'm really interested to see what changes Manticore come up with in the next few weeks.

Thanks to all my opponents over the last few months.

Nice to walk away with two awards including the big one. Didnt expect to win too many games coming in to the league.

Three games stand out - the game vs Jono's Dwarfs which was hysterical for all the wrong reasons. The game vs The Hobgoblins, really close game at a very key time in the season, the win definitely set up the title charge. Thirdly, my game with Curtis, which was more of a battle than a game. I had to really think about every last move I made and managed to steal the victory in the very last rush thanks to a bit of what I considered to be well earned luck!

Winning with a season 1 team was, as I said, a big surprise. It seems that 2016 was the year of the upset across many sports so why should Dreadball be any different?

Da Pirates will return to defend the title in the next campaign, going for 2 in a row and looking to avenge defeat against Pete in the opening game!

It goes to show what I've said again and again - in skilled hands, every team has a chance. The game is more balanced than some imagine :)

That being said, there's room for improvement....

I look forward to another league, should we take a break and wait for second edition to hit? I look forward to a rematch with the defending champion!

Do you mean lucky hands?

To be fair I quickly saw what the disadvantage of my team was and used my megacredits to fix it. And yeah, im not a bad player I suppose!

I'm looking forward to another campaign as I'm liking the new Mantic rules for Jacks if they actually implement them (full move and throw, slam etc). I'm really interested to see what they do with the teams (Forge Fathers, Nameless) to make them more balanced.
